Damn Yankees.

Our vacation was pretty awesome, even though me and Jen were wanting to go home on the first day. Kay took us to Chicago after picking us up at the airport. It was cold, rainy, and our jeans got soaked and we had on open shoes... yeah. It stopped raining partway through and we spotted an H&M, which saved the day. H&M is an awesome clothing store that we've been dying to go to. It was everything I thought it would be.

Kay took us up in the tallest building in Chicago. I am definitely afraid of heights. I wouldn't go anywhere near the windows at first but Jen coaxed me into it. It didn't help at all, lol. I got dizzy if I had to look out the windows and my body was aching from being so high up. It affected me oddly. At least my ears don't pop from heights.

The last thing we did on the first day was have some Chicago pizza! It was pretty good but really unusual. It didn't taste like any pizza I had ever had. Plus they layer the ingredients like cheese or sausage then they put on the sauce. Weird.

On the other days we hung out around Kay's town, which was fun. Lots and lots of shopping was done. We also ate out a lot, which Kay always insisted on paying for. I couldn't believe how easily you can end up in another state. It was a 10 minute drive over the Mississippi to get from Kay's house in Illinois to Iowa. I told Kay that I wasn't used to switching states so quickly. It takes a whole day to get out of Texas.

One night we went to a riverboat casino! It was so friggin' awesome. I had such a ball playing the slot machines. I didn't like the old fashioned slot machines though. They were so damn frustrating. I preferred the electronic ones with cutesy designs on them. Jen was jealous because I was so lucky on them. I didn't win anything though because I kept playing until I used up all the money I won. I think that's the fun of it though. I don't really care about winning big because the chances are so slim. Kay's husband Ronnie made me cash in the 8 cents I had left before we left. He's a funny guy. There was a 70 year old man in front of us that cashed out with 500$! Jeez.

Things are a lot different in the north. Apparently they don't believe in backyards in Illinois. I told Jen that northerners were weird and she said "Damn Yankees," heheh. No offense to any northerners, of course.

I'm glad Mom had a great time catching up with her friend though. They're supposed to alternate visits every year now. Kay will come next summer and Mom will go the summer after that and so on. Kay and Ronnie were the nicest people in the world. We met their son and daughter, who are in their 30s, and they're nice as well. Me and Jen were surprised her children were so old but Mom had us kind of "late." There are a lot of pictures to develop and I'll put a couple in here later.
