2 amazing weekends!

What a time I've had these past 10 days or so, my dear Freakwatchers. I find myself a little overly quiet lately, since I'm spending so much time on the phone, but I'll endeavor to write it up in some semi-entertaining fashion. Forgive me if I'm less flowery than you've come to expect.

Let's start out with Friday, the 30th. Code Blue played the Fraze Pavilion in Dayton to open for Roomful of Blues. That was a big big time. It was very cool to be involved in a show like that, and we had a great time showing these fancy boys what the world's ugliest band can lay down. I'm told that we played well. It was a little hard to tell on stage as the monitor mixes seemed to be pretty much vocals only. I'm willing to believe it though. And let me tell you, there's nothing like an enormous concrete shell to make the drums sound fantastic. It was a lot of fun.

After our set, we got to spend a little time with some of the Roomful, guys (only seven...I would have expected more...), which engendered a lot of "whatever, dude" moments. The drummer asked me if I played maple customs, which is kinda like asking the keyboardist "Hey, is that a Casio?". He took great pains to explain the merits of his custom made kit. Say it with me now..."Whatever, Dude!" They also spent some time bitching that, while we had to drive back to Columbus, they had to go to Rhode Island the next day. Of course, we don't have roadies and a tour bus...

Anyway, it's much fun making the big boys nervous :)

After the show, I spent the night at Doomhaus, which was nice. I wound down by playing cards with the Dooms and Jen's sister Melissa and her new boy Danny (I think...you know how I am with names...). That night there was the most impressive storm in recent memory, and I barely got any sleep. It was amazing to watch though. Over three hours of serious lightning and thunder. Very cool.

Saturday morning, I awoke to the rap rap of Jen at my door, indicating that she was going to try very hard to convince me to come with her and Melissa and Danny to King's Island. Of course, I'm a bit of a pushover, so she didn't have to try very hard. Next time, I'll have to make her do a little dance or summat...

So, we went, and had a grand time. Even though it was a weekend, the crowd was pretty light, so we got to ride a lot. It was a good thing to spend the time. Jen is MAXIMUM fun at an amusement park :) We headed home about 5:00 or so, and I drove back to Columbus for Jebus' bachelor party. I'd tell you all about that, but what happens at Dreamgirls stays at Dreamgirls. It was a good night.

Sooo...THIS Saturday, we played for the first time at Park Street Tavern, here in Columbus, which is a HIGH profile gig, especially since it was Gallery Hop, and the Arts Festival, and the Park Street Festival...It was very nice to see all the fans that showed up, and also nice to play before a big crowd of people who weren't familiar with us yet. We ripped that place apart, partied hard until 2:00, and kept the crowd all night. MAN but I can't wait to play there again. Big thanks to those who came out, especially my lovelies...you made my night.
