ok, so havent posted in a while bc nothing new is going on... still waiting to have screws taken out of my hip, it still hurts like hell... on top of that i've been having an insane amount of migraines which appear to be linked to playing on the computer, which i do A LOT... no i dont wear my glasses, but i dont wear them to read either, and that doesnt trigger my migraines. who knows; i have an appt to see the neurologist in a week and a half.
soooo, i was bored. and jadyn unfortunately inherited her mom's anxiety disorder as well as her dad's adhd, so she wont go outside to play bc there are neighbor's dogs outside (all on leashes, but that doesnt matter to her)... anyway, she wants a skateboard, and i've been planning on getting her one for christmas (she's so unbelievably coordinated she will do backflips off the couch, slide down the banister, walk up the stairs on the OUTSIDE of the banister, and be perfectly fine, but then sprain her ankle walking down a curb) keep her concentrating on something hard and she's fine. let her walk across the house and she'll fall 3 times.anyway, i'll do anything to help the kid get over her fear of 'the outside', so skateboard it is.. and out of the blue i thought i'd pull up a list of sexual offenders and predators in the area. OMFG

did a search of 5 miles within my address. what number would bother you? like REALLY bother you.. obviously any number is disturbing, but what number would you be like, OMFG WTF is going on? thing about it...
how about 210? thats our number. yeah.. and i pulled the flyers up on these people. with the exception of one person who is listed simply bc they had kiddie porn in their house (not that that is OK, just that there is a big difference between that and raping a 12 year old), every other person had actually performed a perverse act (mostly rape) on a child. and most were on kids either 12-15 or under 12. VERY few were in the 16-17 age bracket. and i believe i saw ONE statutory rape charge (which again, i dont consider nearly as horrid as some of the other charges, a 17 year old consents with someone a few years older.. well i dont really think that offender is out to stalk my kid). the thing that bothered me most was the fact that many of these people had been in court less than a year ago, with charges as bad as raping a child 12-15.. and THEY ARE OUT ON THE STREETS. I WANT TO KNOW WHY????? do we not put them in jail? first time offense or no? one in particular committed his crime a month ago and is out. WTF? i am fucking angry. at least lock these people up in a facility in a mental institution where they are receiving therapy for a while, if the courts don't feel they need to go to jail (which is bullshit, imo). BUT DONT LET THEM OUT ON THE STREETS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THEIR TRIAL. talk about encouraging them to do it again...

if you live in another state, all i did was go to google and type in florida sexual offenders (obv enter your state hehe). dont type in sexual predators, some leave out the offenders, theres a really dumbass distinction in several states.
i can tell you of one case i know about in particular which shows just how fucked up the florida criminal system in. i have a friend. none of you know him, seriously lol, he's a friend from when i had just started college and back in my cheerleading days. he's still a great friend of mine. anyway, he's gay. (go figure, male cheerleader :P ... no offense jamie lol ) anyway, he went to a gay bar, either 18 and up or 21 and up, i dont remember. met a guy there. as anyone familiar with the gay community knows, one night stands, flings, sex on the dance floor and certainly on the first date is not out of the ordinary. (no, i'm not generalizing, it's simply the way it is... esp in the gay male community) and i'm esp not judging. i AM freakyjen btw ;). (sidenote, gay bars rock btw, a bartender at 3D still has a pair of my hello kitty panties).. anyway...
so my friend M meets this guy (M was 24? at the time i believe), got his number, hooked up with him either that night or very soon after. all of a sudden a few nights later the cops show up at his house to arrest him. seems his buddy was 2 months shy of 18. used a fake id to get into the club. M never thought to ask him how old he was. it was sex. not a relationship, not much talk. he assumed he was of age bc he was in the bar. so he goes to jail, explains where he met the guy and why he thought he was of age... the cops are ready to drop all charges, esp bc the kid is so close to turning 18, the kid is down there yelling to let M go, the problem is the FATHER of the kid is in total denial that his kid is gay and had him followed to find out where he went then went to the police with Ms address. .when the police were obv going to do nothing about it (stat rape is all they could charge him with anyway) the father went to the news. unfortunately M owned a cheer gym. two of them. with combined enrollment of about 1000 kids. once Ms face made it all over the news as 'having sex with a minor' his career was over. M was never exactly found guilty, but he was required to go to sex offender classes for a year and stay out of clay county for like 2 years. all bc a father couldnt deal with his son being gay.
am i biased in this case? yeah. i knew M for years. he's a good guy. and he's CERTAINLY not a sexual offender or predator. i would let him watch jadyn (even if she were a boy lol) any day of the week. he is one of the people i would consider leaving her in custody to if jamie and i died. i have seen him around those kids he coached, and NEVER was anything even slightly suggestive done. says a lot that even after the news report, there was not a mass exodus of kids from the gym. a few new kids left, but those who had been there a while all stayed. biggest problem was that one of the gyms was in the county he couldnt go to. and that he couldnt exactly get new business. thats actually how jamie and i ended up owning a cheer gym. bought it off of him.
anyway, my point is this. he had to sit in group therapy classes and listen to TRUE sexual offenders tell their stories. he said he had to get up and just walk out a few times. it made him nauseated. and.. these people were also out on the street, just like him. he got caught in a raw deal. these other people were true offenders who were turned on by little kids. who wanted to . do things to them. every time they saw them... how long can these people hold out and NOT act on these emotions? esp when they see neighbors kids playing in the streets every day?
we have drugs to increase sexaul desire. do we have drugs that do the opposite? if we're going to release sex offenders right back onto the street would it be so wrong to require them, as terms of parole, to take these drugs? i know a side effect of several antidepressants is lack of sex drive... there MAY be a drug out there i dont know about. but i SERIOUSLY think if we're not going to lock these people up, we owe it to the community, and even to the sex offender, to help them control their desires. from what M told me, most of these people DONT WANT to act on their desires. how great would it be if we could give them a drug to help them not want to? erectile dysfunction FTW in this case lol.
