So, I found a new thing to get excited about. My news: I <3 Skydiving!!!

Today 4 of my friends came with me to fall out of an airplane and 6 more, plus my mama, came to watch. It was so wonderful. When we first drove up to the place and I saw the planes, I got a lil nervous, but after a bit I was perfectly calm. Rob went first, and I was 2nd. I paid the extra $75 to get this all on video. As I was dressing in the gear I was caught off guard  when I looked up and see a camera in my face. (I get VERY camera-shy: I told the guy that the camera made me more nervous than the thought of the jump.)

The plane was itty bitty, and held together on the inside with duct tape! Yeah: duct tape. But it was all cool.

The scariest part was when the door of the plan opened and you moved to the edge and thought "Oh, crap! If I'm not careful, I'm going to fall out!" Then you realized... "Wait... that's what I'm here for! Here I go!" "I am now falling out through the air!!!!!!"

The wind is all your senses are aware of at first... incredibly strong, loud, forceful wind. But it isn't even like that "falling" feeling you can get when tripping over a rug or leaning too far from a latter. I guess it is because you aren't about to hit anything. So, there isn't that split-second adrenaline pumped fear of how it will hurt. There is just space. And wind. Because I got it video taped, I had someone else jumping at the same time. He went out the door first and perched himself on the post the held the wing up while I had that moment of tipping over the edge. Looking at front of me and watching him was crazy. It went something like, "Whoa! Look at that guy floating in mid-air. No, he's not floating, he's falling... and so am I! There he goes... down, down, down, faster than me... This is crazy looking! I love it!"

Then the instructor that I was tandem with pulled the rip cord and out came the parachute. When it opened, I was jerked upward with GREAT force. It kinda hurt where the straps pulled on me, but no more than a seatbelt when you slam the breaks.

After the chute is opened, then it is literally smooth sailing all the way down. You forget what is going on. You are just securely tied to a really high chair. I got to be in control of the chute and he told me to pull hard with my right hand. When I did that, we spun in a circle to the right. From there, I let that up, and pulled the left. We were just kind of hanging out midair, so I asked if I could do some more spins. He said that I'm in control, we can do as many as I like. I think I may have over-done it, because I started to feel a little sick from being dizzy. =) The scale of everything on Earth is brought down by a lot, so you start feeling really close when you are still VERY high. The freefall is very fast, but with the chute you barely feel like you are moving (with the exception of the turns). It is calming. And beautiful.

I absolutely loved it and would love to continue to do it. It was so amazing.

Next time I won't be so nervous to do the falling over the edge part. I fear the video may show my scared expression.

Afterwards, we all went out to eat at Outback Steakhouse.

I am SO SO SO glad I got to share that day with the friends who came out! They made it that much better!

So, that is my story.
