So, a while back I ran into Remy at Aug.'s. We got to talking, like we do, and got onto the subj. of bks., like we do. He told me about this bk. that I really wanted to read, but then I forgot what it was... like I do

Quote 3 is utterly off about agnosticism. It's not a declaration of doubt, but one of irrelevance of the question to begin with. At least that's how I see it. If someone proved to me one way or another the existence or nonexistence of God the base way that I would live would not change, unless it is proven that ritual and more obscure practices within the bible are valid to fend off damnation.
Anyways, see right there! That's why I choose the belief of agnosticism! Thought could go in circles for infinity on such subjects. If I could reach a staunch conclusion one way or another then I would go there, but they only create more questions, therefore I'd rather make it a non-references pointer (or should I say "toss in an interrupt into the algorithm"?) and get on to other threads (thoughts).
Ties can be a noose, but a uniform is a loaded shotgun in your mouth. :P
I knew this would get at least one comment on agnosticism.freakishnrandomApril 3 2007, 00:35:23 UTC
"If I could reach a staunch conclusion one way or another then I would go there" So, you are saying that you are still living in a state of doubt, then, right?
No one can ever prove God TO someone else. You have to do it for yourself. If you just sit around waiting for someone to bring God to you on a plate, then don't hold your breath. That is just an excuse to not think or care. A way out so that you don't have to believe anything.
If you are waiting for someone to tell you why you have to do this or that do not be damned, then just hang it up now. Don't hold your breath. That's not what it is about.
I typed way more than I expected too.sk8betteApril 4 2007, 00:37:23 UTC
Not to jump into an argument that I have no part of, or even to add fuel to the fire, but I would like to at least offer my two cents:
I agree with Guy in the sense that Agnosticism is not necessarily about doubt. I personally have chosen Agnosticism simply because I don't believe that any one religion is right or wrong. Not that I doubt that there is a god... it seems that to doubt that there is a god would be believing that there isn't one, which would be atheism.
For me, Agnosticism is an acknowledgment that there definitely is something, but to pigeon hole that something is flawed because, as religion has stated, that something is beyond our realm of existence and understanding. If God is so much greater and more complex than we humans could ever grasp, then how can humans decide on a religion in accordance with what God wants? As it stands, there are hundreds of religions who all claim that theirs is right, true, and as God wants it to be. Yet so many of these religions conflict with one another. That being said, Agnosticism

The first quote is dead on with me.
