Post- Con run through #SPWF

 OMG guys. Oh. My. Goddess.

ok thats enough of that silliness

Just got back from New Jersey. I went to Steampunk Worlds Fair, and it was fantastic. Stupendous. Utterly Delightful. Well, you get the idea. Lets run down what happened this week to review:

Wednesday i got outta work around 3. We left a little later than i had hoped, but food, gas, pretty skirts, and little to no traffic jams made it all good. The raaain was .. special. kinda made me feel epic driving through NYC. Got a little lost (GPS is crap) but in the end we got a parking spot and to Jayce's place for sleep and mild chitter chatter. It's too bad it was too late to go out for a drink. The hope had been to have a legit drink in a NYC bar. Ah well, next time.

Thursday, cause i'm crazy/trained to 'sleep in' til 8:30.. well that happened XP Poor Anthony, i wouldn' t let him sleep! So we walked around Queens, seeing the skyline, exploring. We didn't want to find parking in time square or manhattan, and also were super strapped for cash/time so we didn't take public transit. But it was a delightful taste, and now i have a bunch of NYC friends :D i'll hafta try again later

After NYC we went to Somerset, which was a deceptively short drive. I felt like i was gunna be sitting for hours again and we were there. Helped stuff registration bags, made some friends, wore my fangs. It was a good time.

But Friday is when the real party began.

Woke up on time, still anxious to get epic looking. got all gussied up and wandered around the con. I further helped the con, directing and such, but that soon wore down to "i'm bored let me go" and, being an unbound volunteer, i found replacements and left. I got my buskers 'licence' too, and went about looking for a tapestry/shawl/scarf to place my tarot cards on. Fate guided me to the room of some of the moved vendors (Fire Marshal decided last second that vending from individual hotel rooms was a no no. boo) These lovely ladies had, amongst other treasures, vintage shawls. And in my query, they managed to remember a wonderful dragon shawl, old and pre loved, sturdy and colorful.

Its perfect for a gypsy fortune teller. And so i went about, settling on the floor with my cards (gypsies need no stool or table) And giving fortunes. I had such a grand time meeting people and reading their cards. I quickly learned that the best spread to do was a three card, past, present, future. The cards behaved wonderfully. Optimistic and accurate, i loved the surprised looks on those i read. It was great. New favorite daytime con funtime XD

That night there was dancing, and boozing. Which is fun in itself, always. Part of it was suppose to be a semiformal Brass Ball, but that turned out to be a flop. Probably woulda run better if we hadn't needed to stuff vendors into performance / event space. (still irks me that, ya, that happened) So instead i went and followed ENSMB (Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band, my new fave thing of all time) and danced my little heart out. Once they were done, i bought one drink, while supplied with a few others (side note: sounds kinda sketchy right? Thats another thing i fell in love with at Steamcons, people are not out to get you. Legitimately. They are having a goodtime and want you to have a good time. wonderful :D )

Anyway the fun was around this time GW finally made it down, the vendor i was helping (still feels like i didn't do enough, but whatever lol) Aaand I kinda latched myself to him after wandering with the Thee Gartisan flag for a while. Caause i wasn't the only one boozed up. And the creepiest thing is non-con goers getting in, drunk, and interested in something more 'exotic' than there common fare. whatever alls well that ends well XD magically stayed up to 3. geez

Saturday was kinda the same. A good time giving tarot in the morning, dancing and fooding (no boozing, i had to get my car to doubletree that night) And overall delightful times. Oh during the day itself i spent a fair amount of time by the hookahs. It was great hanging out in teh cortyard, relaxing with absolutely delicious music and marvelous hookah smoke (blueberry melon with a hint of mint). Great way to meet people too :D . the funniest part was around 1a, ENSMB was playing again and we actually got a noise complaint. In the middle of an industrial park. Also note: ENSMB is an unplugged band, except for the violin who does so only so she may compete with the saxophones and brass and clarinet etc etc. it was wonderfully silly. Specially since the police showed up in the middle of the Starwars Cantina XD

Sunday was terribly relaxing got up and mostly walked around with my sign and tarot, reading people who had requested the night before (i still feel bad i missed Hunter. bummer) smoking more hookah, music, shopping (i got the bustle of my dreams!!) and hanging out with the friends i'd made. oh including hottubbing :D

Got some people over to the train station, and headed home. Which was ok until we ran smack into the worst traffic jam. If i hadn't used a police access way to sneak off from the jam, i'd probably still be sitting there, asleep at the wheel.

i wanna do it again! Yaaaaay XD
