Before watching the movie, I actually read the book and if you follow me on Goodreads, you would know that and if you don't know, well now you do know.

The book is dark - it's witty and funny at some parts, which is basically the thoughts of R as a zombie and that was obviously kept still in the movie. But the book took a darker turn at the end, especially with regard to the father of the female lead character. There was also another character that was not in the movie and I understood because, just like "The Hunger Games", you do not want too many characters in the movie to confuse the uninitiated. Even though, just like "The Hunger Games", the character that was in the book is actually one of my favourite characters. The ex-boyfriend, in the book, also had a bigger role. But I'm not going to spoil you.

The movie, on the other hand, is actually more light-hearted. It is so funny that you feel it's a rom-com zombie style. The movie is also so different from every other zombie movies and TV shows ever! It took a different turn to the whole zombie apocalypse popularity. When you watch zombie movies or TV shows, it's always "zombie eats brain, stay away from zombie, kill zombie, save yourself, evil evil evil zombie, they can't feel shit, kill kill kill". This movie (and book) humanize zombies. We all know from zombie shows that we watched that zombies were humans who got infected by the zombie virus and BAM! becomes a zombie. These humans do not want to be a zombie. It's not their life mission to be a zombie. They can't get away from the virus thus zombie-fied! It's like, can you help yourself from getting a fever? That's probably what the author of the book and now, the movie, is trying to tell the viewers! Zombies are not that evil. Well, at least in "Warm Bodies".

Nicholas Hoult is excellent as "R". He's adorable and his adorableness transferred even when he's a zombie. Nicholas does not have that hunky handsome leading-man looks but he has that adorableness that I like, which fits for his roles like The Beast in "X-Men: First Class", Jack in "Jack The Giant Slayer" and now R in "Warm Bodies".

So, if you haven't watched it (Singapore is late in the game), well, if it's out on DVDs where you are, you can get it! LOL!
