Story Extract!
Well, at the moment I am writing a story. I can't be arsed to give the whole background to what is happening. It's too long. But here is the latest, and i think best, paragraph I have done so far. Enjoy! (but do not steal!)
It was almost a week since Dawn had Fallen. Her eyes flickered open from a restless sleep to a silent room. The oil lamp had gone out and they sky outside was black and starless. Though all seemed still and calm, something was wrong. Someone was outside the door. She froze, watching it intently through her half closed eyes. The tiny chink of light that came from the door widened, washing the room briefly with yellow lamplight before it shut again. The sound of muffled footfalls followed a dark silhouette as it moved around, stopping here and there. It didn’t seem to notice her, or if it did it didn’t care. She waited. Closer and closer it came, meandering almost. Picking up this, putting down that, replacing and removing with cat-like silence and grace. She could see it more clearly now. Dark wings, dark hair and ivory skin that almost seemed to glow in the gloom. So familiar somehow. Then something clicked, this wasn’t just any demon. It was Lucifer. She felt a sudden urge to scream, but quickly quelled it. After all it would only attract his attention, and he hadn’t seemed to be doing anything malicious so far. She had no idea long he’d been in there - minutes passed like hours - and then all too soon he was standing by her bed. She froze. Even when he leaned over her, even as his hand came down towards her face, she didn’t make a noise. It turned out her fears were unjustified. All he did was brush her cheek and murmur ‘'I hope this doesn’t hurt us both.’' before turning and leaving the room. She waited until his footsteps had faded before she moved again, pressing her face into the pillow, trying in vain to shut out the doubts that were invading her mind.
