((OOC: I'd just like to let you all know that anybody can start a new thread whenever they feel like it, so please don't think that it's just a mod thing to kickstart new scenes aside from character introductions!))

Let's get this circus on the road )

Gert stretched in bed and kicked off the covers. She freed herself from the sleeping Chase's arms and looked down at the sleeping blond. For a boy, he was awfully clingy while he was asleep.. But she understood. Being that everything in his life had been wrenched away from him, she figured she ought to allow him to cling to something, even if it was just in his sleep.

Still, that didn't make her like it any more, and she swung her feet over the side of the bed, finding the dark red fuzzy slippers she'd stolen out of Nico's parents room with her feet. She was as awake as she was going to be, probably. She hadn't had a too-disturbed sleep, but that was probably due to the blissfully unperturbed mind of Old Lace, who slept on the floor to the foot of the bed and radiated peacefulness all night long.

She was gone now, probably waiting outside for Gert to wake up. She stuck her head out of the doorway and found her, sitting on her haunches outside the room in a guard dog posture.

"Waiting for me, huh?" she muttered softly, and Old Lace made that deep, hissing purring sound she always did, "Let's leave him to sleep and go get something to eat, eh?" she patted Old Lace on the head and followed her down the hallway.

The coffee machine made an ominous, gutteral sound. Karolina smacked it with the flat of her palm, and it obliged her by trickling java. She kept a wary eye on it as Gert and Old Lace made their way through the door (all at once and together; Karolina was never sure how they managed to fit, but somehow they did).

"Morning," she said, much more brief and less cheery with Gert than the others. She'd learned the hard way that the shorter girl didn't respond well to morning folks, and she had a telepathic raptor to enforce her dislike. "Coffee?"

Nico and Victor already had mugs on the table, and were busy sweetening it to taste. Karolina usually held off on her own until everybody else had been placated. The machine might die at any time, and nobody else could function without it.

She took a cup of coffee, sipping it despite the heat before she sat down. "Morning." she muttered shortly.
