For breakfast I ate ramen again before heading to downtown with the guys. First we went to Umeda and walked around. Everywhere we went we saw arcades, claw games, and pachinko parlors. We walked into almost every arcade, I think Phillip wanted to play street fighter. In one arcade we watched him play Basara and he got all the way up to level 7, we probably sat there for 30 minutes watching him play. There was this old lady that keep hovering around us. Like she was wiping down the machines in our vicinity the whole time Phillip was playing.
After that long match we entered a claw machine store that had a lot of things I wanted to win, but I decided not to waste my money. We wanted to try pachinko, but when we entered a parlor it was so noisy inside I couldn’t think and the smell of smoke was bothering Simon.
After walking around for an hour and a half we decided to get a snack from the 100 yen menu at McDonalds. I got the Shaka Shaka Chicken with cheese powder, and the guys both ordered a McPork. My chicken tasted pretty good, and their McPorks taste like the breakfast sasage you get at Denny's.
When we first left Umeda station, it was slightly drizzling, after we left McDonalds it was raining, but not pouring. We headed back to the station to window shop at the stores there. Simon bought a yaki-niku to try, but he said that there was little meat for the price he paid. We walked along and saw so many expensive by delicious looking food. After walking past many fruit stalls we saw a juice shop and bought a drink; I got a blueberryxplum drink, Simon got an applexvegatables, and Phillip got a mixed fruit one. It was just pureed fruit with no added juice or yogurt I liked it. I drank mine really quickly, while Phillip and Simon decided to drink theirs slowly and walk around. After they finished their drinks we got on subway and headed for Shinsaibashi. Lolita dress shopping time!!!
When we arrived in Shinsaibashi, we followed my directions to Triangle Park, where most of the dress shops are located at. On the way to Triangle Park we passed by an apple store and went inside so that Simon could check his e-mail and see where Mami, a girl he sat next to on the airplane, wanted us to meet her. While Simon was checking his mail Phillip was looking up the address of Supreme, a hip-hop clothing store he wanted to go to. After getting direction from a worker we continued on our way to Triangle Park.
As soon as we saw Triangle Park I spotted a Bodyline store and quickly went inside. I really liked the dress that was on display, but I didn’t see any on the rack. Everything was marked down by 50% or more, however there weren’t that many dresses I liked. In the end I bought a blackxpink plaid jsk for 2999 yen. Simon and Phillip kept trying to take pictures of the store and workers, and they kept telling them to stop.
After that we head to Brand X, a used clothing store, on the way we stopped at a shoe store that Phillip wanted to look at. Inside Phillip asked a Black guy if he knew where Supreme was and he said he didn’t. He spoke English really well, so Simon asked him if he was American. He said that he was from Afghanistan and that he hated Americans. Kind awkward... We left shortly after that and entered Brand X.
Unfortunately there weren’t any dresses that I like, but I did find a blue blouse from Meta’s Punkma line. I tried it on then subsequently purchased it for 4200 yen. After that we spent the next couple of hours looking for Supreme. We kept walking in circles looking for at, as well as asking multiple people for directions. While we were looking for Supreme I found the Baby store, of course we had to go inside. A lot of the merchandise were 30% off, however since it was a sale I couldn’t try any of the clothes on. I spent a long time debating on which dresses to by, and finally settled on the navy blue baby doll Alice chess piece jsk, and matching head band.
After I bought that dress we continued our search for Supreme, when we finally found it, it was such a tiny store, but I think Phillip was happy. He bought a red hat that had knot print and Supreme on the front. After that we had no other agenda besides meeting Mami at 7, we continued my search for my other Lolita stores. We had no luck until we spotted a girl with her family holding an Angelic Pretty bag. Briskly we walked over to her and asked her where the Angelic Pretty store was. The mom told us to wait for her husband to give us directions. His directions were pretty accurate and soon we were in the Angelic Pretty store.
I once again took a while looking in the mirror holding dress in front of me imagining if it will look good on me, in the end I bought a dress that one of the clerks was wearing, and a pair of white socks. It was pastel purplexyellow floral print dress with a bowneck. While I was browsing Simon thought that a clerk’s nails were amazing so he took a picture of them. After another very satisfying purchase we headed towards the Loft to wait for Mami.
Once again we got lost and had to ask another person for directions, luckily we found it shortly after our inquiry. We still had 30 min before Mami would arrive, so we decided to walked along the strip until it was time to meet up with her. We found the Sanrio shop and I wanted to go inside. Unfortunately, the store didn’t have any of the Toki Doki x Hello Kitty bags. Simon played a luck game and got a Hello Kitty food container that he will give to a friend of his that likes Hello Kitty. Back at the Loft we only waited a short time before Mami came; we quickly took a look around and left to go back on the strip towards Namba.
When we arrived in Namba Mami took us to a building which recreated old Japan that was filled with little restaurants, games, and attractions. It was really quaint and quite nice. Mami showed us a machine that allows you to make you own cotton candy for 100 yen. That was really fun, I'm such a little kid at heart. She also treated us to dango and tako-yaki. As we were walking around we found this noodle shop that was started by a competitive eater, a very large and tall Japanese man. Simon and Phillip took a picture with him; he was more than a foot taller than Simon. After that we left and headed towards Namba Parks.
Namba Parks was like a large outdoors mall, Mami took us to the top level so we could see a panoramic night time view of Namba. After taking a few pictures we decided that it was time to eat. We walked back onto the strip and decided to eat at a conveyor belt sushi place. The sushi was pretty good for only 120 yen per plate, and we sat and chatted for a little while. We tried to pay for the meal, but once again Mami insisted on paying. We took a picture with her, and she walked us to the station and saw us off. Back at home I took a nice relaxing bath, and then tried on my dress. Luckily they all fit and I’m very happy to own them.
