I was pretty steamed, as always, today after reading "Yahoo Africa news" and I decided that it was time I wrote a letter to their customer service. Here goes the letter.
I have been on Yahoo for a while now and Yahoo is where I get most of my news. I like to read up a lot on Africa but Yahoo always disappoints me with the news they post on the Africa section. It seems that everything sad or disheartening or whatever bad thing that is happening on in the world is bunched up in the Yahoo Africa news section.
For example today’s page (10.11.2005) contains headlines such as:
-Weather Slows Asia Quake Aid; 35,000 Dead
-U.N. Warns of Disease in Asia Quake Zone
-One thousand hospitals in Pakistan destroyed in quake: UN
-Rice to hammer out Iran strategy with UK, France
-NATO Prepares for Expanded Afghan Mission
-Serb Paramilitaries Charged After Video
-US posts 10 million dollar bounty for 2002 Bali blasts mastermind
-Serbia charges five for Srebrenica killing
These headlines CLEARY HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH AFRICA. This is not something that just happened today, this has been happening ever since I started relying on Yahoo to get news on Africa. Why is it that Yahoo finds it necessary to bunch up all the sad stories about Iraq, Iran or some other place where there happens to be war, famine, disease, human tragedy, etc with news about Africa?
I am just asking Yahoo to post African news in the "Africa News on Yahoo" section. Please be goodwill ambassadors and do you reporting right.
I could go on and on but if this doesn't get the point across ... I'll write another letter.
Thanks.
