Whaddup

So I’ve put this post off for a couple of weeks because I had a lot of different stories going on in different exchanges and I’m still kind of amazed at all of the stuff I managed to write in December and so far in January (one exchange fic and one birthday present to go and please nobody request anything of me because I can literally feel the writing well drying up and I want to go hide for awhile). But I’m guessing it’s pretty common to write about what you wrote for Yuletide, so here we go.

I picked up two last minute pinch hits, one of which had absolutely no letter and the recipient didn’t seem to have much of an online presence that I could detect. The fandoms were Disney Princesses and Bruce Coville’s My Teacher is an Alien series, which I adored in the sixth grade. Each story was a challenge in a different way, but both of my recipients were very pleased, as far as I can tell, so that’s a story with a happy ending.

They are:

A Princess and a Warrior Walk into a Tower - rated PG, 3707 words. Jasmine and Mulan find a very interesting tower on their travels. Yes, it’s a fic where three of my favorite Disney princesses sit down to tea. I have no shame.

Krepta, Child of Two Worlds - rated PG, 2993 words. Peter Thompson has done his duty by the aliens for the past ten years but there’s still so far to go, so when he’s finally offered his life dreams, Susan Simmons and Duncan Dougal pretty much have to force him to take it.

(This fic was an experience because I remember some uncomfortable things in this series, but I definitely had forgotten how judgey it could be about television and some of the great things humanity has created (basically the book gives the hypothesis that in order for there to be world peace, there can be no individuality and privacy). I didn’t like that so much, but I also didn’t want to do a fix-it fic for the series because that’s not sporting and in the name of Yuletide. So I kind of found a way around that with Susan (my favorite character besides Kreeblim) kind of taking television and film back in a positive way. It’ll probably be my least-read fic because the fandom is so small, but I’m actually really proud of this fic. It was fun to get to write in the style of a man whose works I adored back when I started writing for real.)

And then in addition to Yuletide, I stuffed some stockings over at Fandom Stocking.

In no particular order:

Snowed In, a Mighty Ducks fic for carolinecrane, rated PG, Fulton/Portman, just them getting snowed in at a cabin in upstate New York. (my first and only time writing slash, guys)

The Replacement, a Tangled fic for Jai, rated G, Eugene/Rapunzel, where they get a dog and Pascal is less than pleased. (I apparently have some kind of block when it comes to thinking of him as Eugene because Eugene is one of my least favorite names ever, so to me he’s Flynn Rider)

Always a Bad Idea, an MCU fic for nwhepcat, rated PG-13, Clint & Nat, and it’s Clint and Natasha’s stance on robots (title says it all).

In Which Everybody Ignores Grant’s Wishes...Again, an Agents of SHIELD fic for Leoraine, rated PG-13, where Grant’s hurt and the others get him to safety over his objections. (my recipient likes Ward and apparently to write in his perspective, I need to beat him first)

Companionship, an MCU/Agents of SHIELD fic for tielan, rated PG, where Melinda May and Maria Hill share art appreciation and haze Skye at the same time because efficiency is key. (Uh, more stories with these two may be coming soon)

Orphan Christmas, an Arrow fic for lionessvalenti, rated PG-13, and it’s basically Roy and Sin being best buds and talking about Christmas. (Siiiiiiiiiiiin)

Against the Pale, an Antarctica AU fic for ShenShen77, rated PG, Peggy/Steve, the dogs and penguins being cuuuute as a button, and part of the reason that I have a penguin/husky hybrid picture sitting in my inbox. (I got to write Steve/Peggy!!!)

And then of course Saturday was the fantastic anuna-81’s birthday, so I wrote her a little Agents of SHIELD fic where everybody is super nice to Skye and she’s convinced she’s dying. The Day, rated PG, 4453 words, Skye & Everybody.

Sorry I haven’t been present much apart from posting writing. I’ve had headaches basically every other day and the lack of a garbage disposal is actually disrupting my life more than I realized it would. Also there are things going on in my apartment that are kind of annoying, so I basically have either two weeks to find a new apartment and move alllll of my stuff or I need to nag my super into fixing everything. My dad wants me to move, but I just...that’s a lot of work. Meh.

Anyway, how’s everybody else?

arrow, avengers fic, avengers, fic, arrow fic, agents of shield
