Wednesday Morning Thoughts

Sep 25, 2013 10:32

I’m still trying to sort out my feelings about all of the TV I crammed into my brain last night, which is, for the record:

• Brooklyn Nine-Nine
• Agents of SHIELD
• New Girl
• Person of Interest
• Chicago Fire
Tuesdays are going to kill me. Mostly because those are all shows I like to watch right away (with the exception of AoS, maybe) and now they ( Read more... )

chicago fire, poi, avengers, agents of shield, new girl

I liked Agents of SHIELD -- and you're right, not as good as I'd hoped, but not as bad I'd feared. I watched with one of my housemates and while she hasn't seen any of the Marvel movies, she was able to follow along pretty well, so they did a good job with that.

I'm looking forward to learning more about Agent May and Skye, and hoping Agent Ward develops more of a personality. I liked Fitz and Simmons well enough, but they were talking a bit too fast for me, I found them a little hard to understand -- not sure if it's lingering effects of my cold messing with my ears or what.

I've done some poking around other reviews of the show and there's a LOT of talk about Coulson being a Life Model Decoy. I also ran across one theory that has Coulson getting injected with Super Soldier Serum or having had a blood transfusion from Captain America. I'm curious to see how all that pans out.

I had to laugh -- the first commerical in the first commerical break was for Iron Man 3 out on DVD and Blu-Ray. The first commercial in the second commercial break was for Thor 2. Wonder if Marvel had to pay for those commercial slots?

Also snickered when Skye was telling Mike that with great power comes (pause) a ton of weird crap you're not prepared to deal with. I had to explain that one to my housemate. And then right after having seen Lola fly off, the beginning of next show, The Goldbergs, had that same scene -- from Back to the Future.

Get Smart-ish -- perfect comparison, I wouldn't mind a Lola of my own though!

ETA -- I've also seen some theories that Coulson's a clone. This leads me to think there's a huge storage room in SHIELD HQ with hundreds of "unactivated" Coulsons. Erskine originally cloned him while perfecting the Super Soldier Serum and they just active a new one whenever they need one.

The Great Responsibility line just about made me cry with laughter because it is the PERFECT mockery of Tobey Maguire-era Spider-Man. And now I'm imagining an entire room full of Coulson clones, just hanging on racks. And also, the Clint/Coulson shippers just went mad with glee, thinking of all of the threeway potential in that theory.

Oh, the Marvel product placement. It was rather fantastic. I was happy to get the Thor commercial, though. It had some great Jane in it and I loves me some Jane Foster.

And yeah, FitzSimmons were talking fast and hard to understand. But I think I need to watch the show again if I'm going to write the fic where Simmons repeatedly almost kills the team with her enthusiasm over science.

I was fully expecting Coulson to say something to Simmons about her "dripping with gamma radiation" comment. :)

If this doesn't somehow end with Simmons getting infected by something either awesome or horrifying, I'm going to think Whedon is slipping.

How about something awesomely horrifying?

And doesn't How I Met Your Mother end this season? Maybe Maria will be on the show full time after that?
