T Minus 5 Days

Aug 31, 2013 11:01

This week, I took a class that my boss was teaching, which was three days (it went from Tuesday to Thursday) and had to deal with how to present positive feedback and how to manage a classroom environment as a trainer. It basically meant three days of being in a classroom with four other students instead of closed off in my office, which took a lot ( Read more... )

Sounds exhausting, but fun. I'm obviously from a different school of writing- I tend to add meals instead of forgetting them when I'm on a deadline :P My theory is I have some hobbit ancestors way back, because I am all about second breakfast.

Have fun on your trip!

Hahaha, I made a joke about second lunch yesterday and half the people gave me odd looks and the other half giggled. One person had to double-check that I was making Hobbit jokes. My eating habits when I'm on deadline are the worst. I skip meals entirely, I eat candy bars instead of full meals, and so on and so forth. By the time I finish a story, I look like I wrecked into the side of a mountain. It's kind of awesome.

Second meals are Hobbit jokes? Whoops, I totally thought they were The Office jokes...but probably originally from the Hobbit. Consider me schooled.

Yeah, Hobbits eat somewhere upwards of 7-10 meals a day. They're all listed in the beginning of The Hobbit, but since I can't make it past 50 pages in that book, I can't remember what they are. The Office definitely was referencing Tolkein there. :)

I'm with you on the eating habits. My secretary has caught on to this, and periodically wanders into my office to admonish me sternly. ("Have you eaten anything today???") But usually she does this after the cafeteria closes, at which point we're down to vending machine chips and Mars bars, and any dietary advantage of my forgetfulness goes down the tubes in spectacular fashion.

I'll try and bring the ten postcards I bought the last time I was in Vienna and didn't mail ...

My sister does this to me! When I'm deep in the throes of a project, I'll find food magically appearing at my elbow. It's even worse when I'm doing video editing. I just outright forget to eat. I once had to microwave something four different times because I kept nuking it and forgetting it.

Meanwhile, my sister is just sitting in her room, laughing.
