I didn't get into USingers :(

I am, however, auditioning for the Silhooettes on Friday. I don't know if I want to sing with them though. They aren't really my kind of group. And, if Blue Notes manages to stay together, maybe that is enough singing for the time being. I'll audition again next semester.

In the meantime, maybe I will do something else with my afternoons. Or, maybe I will just do work in the afternoons and join another organization that meets in the evenings. Or, maybe I will simply have a little more free time than before. I don't think it will be all that significant, really, given that my classes this semester seem to be a lot of work. Maybe I will work on writing my memoir. Oy. Maybe I'll save that for summer instead. Speaking of, I sent out a chapter of it to a bunch of magazines senior year of high school and have been slowly getting rejection slips in the mail ever since. One came today, about two years after the fact. How interesting... They said, "Thank you for submitting I Didn’t Hear Them Knock to New Moon®: The Magazine for Girls and Their Dreams. You’re a good writer and I appreciate the open and honest way you wrote about puberty. Your narrative leaves the reader with a very strong sense of connectedness with your subject matter. Although we feel the piece is a little too “old” for our readership of 8 - 14 year olds, I hope you will continue to write and perhaps you will find a home for this piece elsewhere." I think that is quite encouraging, and I think the piece has a 'home' in my yet-to-be-written memoir. Ohhh.....the idea of dreams becoming realities is inspiring and wonderful.
