Well, I lost terribly at Disney Trivial pursuit, but won at Life (which is probably more important) against Stephen and his sister, Theresa - and had a lot of fun!
Earlier today I finally finished all of my applications for summer internships, so once I put together all of my recommmendations all I will have to do is sit back and wait, and hope...
I also met Jenny for coffee, which was sooooo wonderful! We live on the same hall, and she is someone that I have really wanted to get to know, but somehow we are both too busy or too lazy to actually take the time to talk to each other, and when we do Courtney and Tara, with whom I am much better acquainted, are always there, so I never really talk to Jenny. This was amazing, the time just flew by. I knew I would love Jenny if I just had the opportunity to get to know her better!
Of course, driving to Fairfax meant that I had to drive Rebecca to work in the morning - she was substituting for a kindergarden class (yes, that does make me quite jealous). But even this was fantastic. I think driving is one of the best places to bond - simply because no one can walk away or get distracted. My radio doesn't work, so we were forced to talk...for a long time, due to rush hour traffic. Not that I don't talk to my sister anyway, but somehow it seems to be more precious now, when we continue to grow apart and be less involved in one anothers' lives. Don't get me wrong, I am closer to Rebecca than I am to most people on the known universe, but we have fewer shared experiences now, we have less to talk about, and it becomes more and more frustrating that when she is the same age as many of my friends, our relationship remains so structured within our age difference. She will always exert authority as the older sister, even as two years apart becomes less and less important in all other relationships that I might have. I don't know. But what's my point? Oh, it was nice to spend time in the car with her today.
Yesterday Abbie came over for a bit, and we watched a movie, went to a consignment shop, and watched an episode of the television series based on Chronicles of Avonlea and Further Chronicles of Avonlea (for those of you who don't know, these were books written about other characters in the town in which Anne of Green Gables lived). This was, of course, amazing.
I am so ready to go back to school and be busy again. I intend to be so busy that I don't have time to breathe. I feel like I am really living when I am busy. I am taking: World Gothic, Autobiography, Memoir, and Memory Making, Scriptural Reasoning, Inter-Ethnic Fiction (if I can get in) or African American Identity Fictions (if I cannot), Hebrew 102, Running for Fitness, and maybe, if I decide to audition and if I get in, University Singers. On top of that - Blue Notes (same position as last semester...but who really knows what that does or doesn't entail?) and Hillel. Also, Jenny is taking a dancing class one night a week next semester and I might join her for that. But I'd also really like to do a community service activity, so I don't know. And, I'd like to actually spend some time doing IRC things. And getting to know my roommate, which is surprisingly difficult given that we live in the same room. Oh, and of course teaching at CBI. Sounds perfect, doesn't it? I love new beginnings...keeps everything fresh. I especially like new beginnings when they aren't too new. I can say that I am starting all over again with a new semester, but I still have the same friends, activities, even living arrangement - that's a perfect amount of change for me! lalalalalala...I feel like singing, but my parents are asleep, and they don't like when I play Judy at night because they are light sleepers and might wake up. I guess I'll save it for tomorrow.
Tomorrow night Nanda is sleeping over!!!!! I'm so excited!!!!! Then, Friday afternoon I will start packing, Friday night I will go to services, Saturday more packing, Saturday night babysitting, and Sunday morning I leave for school! weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!! I'm slipping down time's slide crazy fast, and I'm not even trying to hold on to the sides, I'm just enjoying the ride. Catch me if you can!!!!
