Baby Naming

My parents gave me my Channukah present early - A NEW GUITAR!!! It is a my-sized guitar, which is wonderful, and I would still be playing it now if my parents hadn't called me on my cell phone from their bedroom upstairs to tell me that they can't sleep because they can hear the guitar from their room. (Why they couldn't just yell down the stairs ( Read more... )

I vote Zipporah? With Marnina coming in second. I mean, of course, YOU have to decide, but for what it's worth I think you should go with a name you LOVE, not that you think is fitting.

*hugs* thanks for the sweet comment on my LJ

Would you and Annie like to come housesit with me for Rachel right before the start of spring semester?

My parents vote for Delilah. I kind of like that. I'm also thinking Judy. But then it also sort of looks like a Jane to me. And of course I love the names Zipporah and Marnina. I think it would make a good Marnie, actually. Or should I give it an Israeli name? Like Sarit? Nah. Maybe Shiri. I want to pick a name ASAP because I hate when things go unnamed. But I am awful at making big important decisions like this one. A name really colors how you look at a thing. Do I want my guitar to be playful, or calming? Do I want to always take it seriously, do I want to see it as an outlet for prayer and meditation, or is it more of a toy, an outlet for fun? I mean it can be both, but some names would make me think of it more in one direction than the other. Zippie is a fun name. Marnie is kind of in the middle. So is Judy. But Judith is a more meditative name. Delilah...I think that's more peaceful too. Shira is peaceful and Shiri is fun. Oh gee...this is hard ( ... )

And playing on a guitar that I think of as female is soooo different! I had no idea that the perceived gender of an inanimate object could change how I think about it in so many ways! Leaving Sampson at home feels mildly like breaking up with a boyfriend... And Delilah feels like a sister. Which is a TOTALLY different relationship. Why is that?

Let it be known that her name is Judy - in full: Judith Delilah Kirzner. Henceforth she shall be known as Judy, thought of as Judy, referred to as Judy, and therefore loved as Judy.
