You guys. I've had such a marvelous birthday in so many ways, I have more cake than Gerard in the picture with the cake, and I totally used the word "flist" in my paper journal tonight. (True facts about me: I got so obsessed with writing everything down in my journal in college and grad school that I eventually freaked out and stopped altogether. Then I got sad about that and wanted to do something again, so now I write in it every year on New Year's Eve, New Year's Day, and my birthday. I figure it's a good interval.)
ANYWAY. Thank you all for the many many kind words, and extra special thanks to withdiamonds who wrote me a most beautiful and awesome BATHROOM SCENE drabble, set in the Straight Out From Underneath 'verse. Or, well, I guess technically the bathroom scene happens offstage, but, you know. (And if you don't know, I would like to state for the record that my perverted bathroom scene fetish is all Donna's fault for setting all the most hardhitting moments of her epic in that context. It's like when Gloria Steinem was a Playboy bunny and her shoe size was permanently one half size larger afterwards. I'm changed for life now.) Hey, btw, did you know "bathroom scene" sounds really funny if you say it four or five times in one paragraph? Oh, you thought "bathroom scene" already sounded funny the very first time? All right then. Anyway, go read!
Two other things arrived in the mail today that aren't birthday presents, but have definitely contributed to my sense of celebration and festivity. jae_w, thank you so much for the book! It's pretty perfect because I really like Alice Munro but I didn't have that collection yet. I can't wait to read the stories. - Also, I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love, and awww. oh, babies! I need to listen to it some more before I can think anything really coherent, but I love it dearly already. Also, the back cover really really looks like a Tee Corinne cunt picture to me. I cannot help it, I am wired that way. okay.
Also also, I am the lucky beneficiary of someone else's loss in the form of a suddenly spare ticket to see Fall Out Boy on Saturday. I am excited and kind of nervous! \o/
