1) flambeau kicked off a new round of this meme, and I love both to talk and to hear about icons, so I jumped at it.
Reply to this post (ask for the meme...) and I will pick six four [I'm changing this back 'cause I'm feeling chatty. or really, listeny. Is there a word for that?] six of your icons. Make a post and talk about the icons I chose. Other people can then comment to you and make their own posts. This will create a never-ending cycle of icon squee. Whoo!
Here are the icons torch picked from my set:
long long jacket - That's the ubiquitous Pete Wentz with Jon Walker's and Ryan Ross's arms around his shoulder. I love how the contrast with Jon's normal-sized hand shows how freakishly long Ryan's fingers are, and I also love how Jon sneaks into the middle of my Pete/Ryan ship. SURPRISE JWALK! The keywords are about the accusations of Panic riding Fall Out Boy's coattails to success, which I'd been seeing a lot of at the time, although in this particular picture I believe Pete is wearing Ryan's jacket, which amused me. because I am easily amused. Moving on!
still have each other - This is Mikey Way's incredibly hot chest, proudly advertising his brother's comic book, because I love Mikey and Gerard and the Umbrella Academy and Waycest UST. This icon goes with my other icon of Mikey's chest in his Clan hoodie, because I think it's really adorable how Mikey even more than the rest of his band expresses his allegiances sartorially. Presently I will make myself an icon of Mikey's chest in the MIKEY FUCKIN WAY shirt and use it for Mikey wanking and/or timeshift fic. Also I totally went for the cheesy Rihanna keywords, because if they're good enough for Gerard to sing, they're good enough for me!
so sayeth the flock - Here we have John Sheppard with his hair lit up and his face in angsty shadow, which is about the general impression I have of SGA. No, no, I kid, really I just thought it was a hot picture of him. I myself only ever dipped one toe into SGA fandom, but at the time a large portion of my flist was heading in that direction, so for keywords I borrowed a classic Nsync bit: we're gonna have a good show! so sayeth the shepherd...
in his kitchen - OMG big macho major league baseball players cuddling during pregame warmups! Barry Bonds nestling in between Frank Thomas's thighs with a blissful smile on his face and a hand on Frank's knee! Lots of people don't like Barry, but between this and the Paula Abdul outfit and, you know, all the home runs, I really feel like he worked pretty hard to entertain me, and I'm sad that he and the Giants broke up. Anyway, this picture really doesn't have anything to do with anything fannish, but I love it so much I had to have an icon of it. Sometimes I use it to comment about sports-related things. "In his kitchen" is baseball slang describing a pitch thrown very close to the batter's body, usually with intent to intimidate. I kind of cheated reusing it here since I already used it as a story title, but again I just couldn't resist.
2) While I was looking at that page, I also decided to do an icon census. Here are the results. (Note: I counted people as appearing in an icon if their hand or arm is visible, even if their face is not.) Frankly, all I could do after completing this list was nod and say, "yeah-hunh."

3) My latest bandom365 short is speak so slightly (Mikey-centric, includes Mikey/OFC and Mikey/Gerard).
4) I've finished all of the last set of ficlet prompts I got, so I get to ask for more! This time please tell me one of your icons to use as a prompt. If you choose a bandom icon the resulting ficlet will be posted on bandom365. Doesn't have to be bandom, though, I'll write other fandoms too. Hell, I'll write something for anything you like to toss at me, though if I'm not familiar with the fandom in question the results may be more hilarious than touching. And I may be very slow, but I'm determined to respond to all eventually. ja? ja.
5) And finally, I have a question about the Lyn-Z tasteit interview. Which is awesome, and I love how she encourages people not to be scared of doing things badly, and I also love that she's a performer more than a musician at heart, as being one more way in which she and Gerard are totally MFEO. And I think it's also really interesting how the dynamic between a female interviewer and female interview subject plays out - they're giving each other so much supportive feedback!
Okay, but my question is this: Lyn-Z says that she had never heard of MSI before their manager invited her to audition. But I thought I'd heard that Jimmy is her brother. Can she really not have known about a band that her brother was in? Or was she lying her face off to sweet, earnest Brigitte? Or was the "brother-sister" relationship perhaps created after Lyn-Z joined the band? Enlighten me, friends!
