I'm attempting to teach myself to do entries out of order. I do still owe the posts on Disneyworld and San Diego, but until I get around to that, there have been some interesting things happening.
First is that we applied for money from the department in order to do research over the summer. I found out on Wednesday that I got quite a bit, so I'll be going to both Washington DC *and* Japan during the summer! I haven't decided exactly when I'll be in DC, since I'll just take the train down, but I bought tickets for Japan yesterday. I'll be there from July 6th to the 30th! The current plan is to spend at least two weeks at the archives, but this way I can run a bit over and still have time for some serious couch surfing. :D
Those tickets are in and out of Boston. I'm planning to head home in early May and stay there (excepting research trips) until mid-August. I'm pretty pumped to actually get a summer!
The other fairly interesting thing that's been happening is my first union experience. The TA union called a strike vote yesterday, with 81% saying yes. So if the university doesn'tmake any concessions during the bargaining session next Tuesday, we may very well be going on strike. I'll keep you guys posted. ;)
In human interest stories, we got our first foster cats last week. There are two of them- a little skittish, but once they het used to you, extremely sweet. And very high-octane. XD Also, we've finally got a day with nice weather, instead of, say, hail (like we got yesterday D:).
I think that's all the news from Lake Woebegone! I'll post about San Diego some day when I need to procrastinate. XD
