Was this weekend. XD We actually did pretty well! We won our heat on Saturday in 13:10, the fastest I've ever done, which is amazing since my arm was dead by the first beach. >.> It was awesome though! And we got to race again today in the semi-finals. We came in fourth, and did a slower time, but we are okay with that because we got caught in a huge BUMPER-BOATS FIASCO a.) at the start line, when some crazy people started out heading for the last buoy b.) coming off the other beach, where we got cut off twice and lost all our speed to ramming the offenders. Considering how much of our time was spent stopping to let other people go so that we didn't spend the whole race stuck on them, we didn't lose much time- we probably would have gone faster if it weren't for all our hijinks. ^^ Overall, I am pleased with what is probably my last Day of the Longboat ever (qq). I'm gonna be sore tomorrow, though.
That's the big news. We've gone ice-skating a couple of times too, in the Olympic Ice Rink-place at UBC, though we don't actually get to use the main hockey rink (we get a dinky one off to the side that they never seem to Zamboni properly.)
Classes are going fairly well- East Asian Military Systems is even more awesome than I had hoped- we've had a month of class and only just done Confucius, going in chronological order. I finally know who Kings Wen and Wu were!!! XD I'm pretty much terrified of Japanese, though, since with the jump in class level (up to 300) there has once again been a jump in difficulty, or at least harshness of grading. And our oral test is on Thursday. I might die.
I actually went to a Sci-fi club meeting on Friday, too (only my second in my fifth year of membership >.>). It was pretty awesome. ^^
Oh! Also, we're fostering a cat. His name is Q-tip, but I call him Rorshach. He's pretty awesome, but we only get him until he's over his cold. *endeavors not to get too attached*
