Ok, living in the Rocky Mts. I've become more than a little jaded when it comes to the announcement of snowfall in October.  It's a hallmark of the season.  Usually we get a few hours of wet streets and very little actual accumulation.  Well, it's still snowing.   It's coming down heavy.  With 4 inches and counting.   The weather guys have been predicting an early and intense winter for us and it looks like they might be right.

I've been out twice so far with my golden retriever, Honey, playing in the snow.  She loves it. She just spent the last hour rolling around in the snow, pouncing on snow balls.  Now we're both wet and cold but no worse for wear.  I turned on the heat and am about to go dig out some wool socks and my turtle necks.

Also, today is Honey's 'birthday'.  2 years ago I adopted her.  She's become my constant companion and is a joy.  Anyone thinking about getting a pet I highly recommend you adopt a pet from a rescue or shelter. So often the animals there just need someone to provide a home and maybe some patience as they get accustomed to their new home.  I found Honey at a local rescue through  www.petfinder.com - check them out if out if you're looking for a pet!
