Vaccination Tales

I got my first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine today! YAY!

It came as quite a surprise. This week they allowed people 70 years and older to sign up, but also those with pre-existing medical conditions, which (un)fortunately applies to me. So I spent the better part of Wednesday and Thursday on the official application website, only to get messages like "no slots available" or "a technical error has occurred". :( Obviously that website was totally overloaded and I resigned myself to maybe getting a slot in late April or May if I was lucky. It was close to midnight Thursday night when I decided to try one last time before going to bed and... "Your slots for vaccination are 13. March and 15. May. Would you like to confirm?" I was stunned for a moment but then gathered my jaw up from the floor and with shaking hands confirmed.

And that is why I got up early on a Saturday (!) and went to our nearest vaccination centre. I have to say they are very organised and the doctor who gave me the shot was extremely nice. I could have chatted with him all day but there were a few more people waiting. :D

I was home for lunch and have been waiting for the dreaded side effects ever since but so far there are none. I am so happy you wouldn't believe it.

Now to get a jab for Hubby who is (un)fortunately quite healthy and may have to wait for weeks or months before he can sign up.
