i'm not all that much of a "don't cross the streams" guy when it comes to putting multiple kinds of food on the same plate, it doesn't really bother me at all. but i very much am a guy who likes his salad in a separate bowl, especially when it's covered in a oily dressing that's likely to run.

there just isn't much that mixes well with lettuce. the particular instance that brings this up is a somewhat sloppy lasagne served on the same plate as a Caesar salad.
