A summer jaunt to Qatar - part 1

So I flew up from Wellington to Auckland last night  (thanks to rincewindtvd  for giving me a ride and keeping me company at the airport, oh and for losing in a foot race, hahahaha)  then left NZ at pretty much midnight.

The flight was really good, I watched Ghost Town (with Ricky Gervais), had some dinner, then managed sleep, albeit restlessly, for about 6 hours.  Woke up, had some breakfast, watched some episodes of the Big Bang Theory (which isn't bad) then arrived in Hong Kong.

So, good flight.  Feeling quite alert, which is nice.

However, I had changed about NZ$30 to 100 Hong Kong dollars because I was given the impression that the train to the city is about $9 and a meal about $15.  That seemed a little too good to be true, and it was.

It's HKD$100 return to the city on the train, and I suspect meals will cost about HKD$40.

Thus ensued some frantic moments while I frantically transferred money to my credit card that I thought could wait until I got to Qatar  (I don't have a lot of money, and thus it needs to be carefully apportioned), I was still thinking that it might not show up before I left Hong Kong, but I tried my luck anyway.

After being reminded that you can't get a cash advance on a signature, I went to the ATM to get out HKD$500 (the minimum amount), about NZ$150, and from out of the depths of my memory, I managed to remember a PIN I haven't used in about 5 years.  Aww yeah.  :)

So now I have cash to go and explore the city,  I was really worried that I might have to stay here at the airport all day.  So without further ado, I'm off!  :D
