I'm hoping the sequel will be an Avengers movie, or at the very least a decent Captain America movie, though I fear a Cap movie in the current world political climate.

I think the best concept for a Captain America movie would be:
Super-Soldier from the 40s is thawed out.
Initially lauded and happy to work for the government.
Becomes disgusted at what America has become.
Becomes a Crusader for Liberty.

Or something like that. I don't know a lot about Captain America, but my understanding is that a lot of the thematic elements he stood for are the very values that are the most threatened in America today:
Liberty
Justice
Basically having the higher moral ground.

What do you think Captain America would think of Abu Ghraib?

Oh, and also, they'll do at least one more Iron Man movie before they do any kind of Avengers movie.

And they'd have to do a Thor movie or a Captain America movie in order to do an Avengers movie.

Or they could get introduced in the Avengers movie, I suppose.

But they're definitely leaving the option open, I think.

There's two things I could tell you that are a little spoilerish, so I won't unless you ask me to.

Of course I've lost the link, but there's actually a lot of talk already about what they'll do next.

The problem with Captain America is, foreseeably, not a huge amount of resonance with non-US audiences.
They anticipate at least two or three years before any Iron Man sequel, so as not to rush the process and make crap movies just for the hot cash.

Favourites for the next movie are Thor, Avengers, or Ant Man, which I'd certainly never heard of.
