i stole this from my sister, ladykinrowan and i know it's kind of late in the year to do it, but i thought it was just interesting enough that i should fill one out myself.
1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
went to texas, experienced death of a loved one, graduated college! (1st one in family of five), started a real salaried job, bout a brand new car - yikes
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
if i actually made any last year, i am not aware of it. this year i just decided to be healthy. eat veggies and fruits and keep an active lifestyle. not really a resolution but a change in my character.

i think because of michael moore's movie '9/11,' "rockin' in the free world" always reminds me of the election year
17. Compared to this time last year, are you happier or sadder?
oh definitely happier, well maybe... i have never felt better in my relationship with jj, but i need to get out of this job, it's making me bitter towards parents and young students, it also makes me interupt people a lot

enjoy the few hours i have to enrich my life - read, write, hike, camp, philosophize, converse with friends, sip tea, yoga

all i really want is money to pay off school loans and now car loans, so that i can explore the world without financial set backs, well, and i wanted to graduate college - heck yeah!
29. What did you want and not get?
see above... maybe a puppy
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
gardenstate by far - excellent soundtrack, closer - a depressing but brutally honest play made into a movie - great soundtrack too
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
i'm not sure what i did on that day, but i did share a party with my then roommate julie. unfortunately, at 22, i got drunk off my ass within an hour and humiliated myself by falling into a dog dish
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
realizing that i actually do have free time, i just need to stop procrastinating

getting a real job made me love black - it's professional, slimming, and goes with everything

hiking in the mountains, getting rare escapes from my everyday life, and certainly jj - being able to talk to him every night helps me run through my day and focus on the good things
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
i have always fancied johnny depp, who wouldn't? and all of those 'rocking the vote' - unfortunately, kids today do look up to celebrities, so it's good that they are involved
36. What political issue stirred you the most?
well, certainly the elections, either i have matured greatly or these elections really were the biggest of the last few
37. Who did you miss?
jj, he's lived in denver since may. my granpa (especially when i questioned who would do the quote for 2005)
38. Who was the best new person you met?
there's a few, new graduate philosophy students came to our department and they are awesome, i love hanging out with them, and of course, devon, my brother's baby
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
i'm sure many have already learned this life lesson but i'm going to say it anyway, we create our own happiness and we are not simply going through the motions to end up where we want to be in life, the motions are our life and we must take each moment of those motions into deep consideration. as one of my professor's of buddhism once said, we should wash the dishes to wash the dishes. once we realize each moment is our life, maybe we'll live them more fully. (maybe i won't procrastinate)
40. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
coldplay seems appropriate - 'don't panic'
'And' we live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world.
Oh, all that I know,
There's nothing here to run from,
'Cos yeah, everybody here's got somebody to lean on.
enjoy!
