Plagiarism? Mixing?

There's a (relatively) current debate about a writer who's being hailed as a "prodigy" over here (or just someone with a rich daddy who's enough influence in the literature scene).

She's 17 and being nominated for a book prize already. Which would be all fine, only that she apparently lifted entire pages from another author's work.

You can read about it here.

At first, she and her publisher claimed it's not plagiarism. It's mixing. I'm sorry, but intertextual "mixing" without listing your sources - that's plagiarism. Only recently, apparently, did they change tactics and in the next edition, the sources will be listed. What a surprise. Guess it's not just been mixing then.

Any thoughts?
