Well, I know a lot (couple) of people are expecting this, so here's my commentary of the JASON MRAZ concert on Saturday.
But first, you have to sit through what happened before. :-b Actually the trip there was rather stressful. The metro ride was fine, but when we got off at Tenleytown I wanted to die. To get out of the station we had to take a huuuuuuge escalator. I swear, it was like 3 stories and I felt like I was going to fall. I guess b/c it's not like it was effort that I had to make to get up stairs, but this machine was doing it all. But, I made it through. Then, it actually got a little worse. We caught the metro bus and were just gonna "head to georgetown" but it turns out it's not that easy. So, we got some vague directions from a woman on the bus. Rode the D6 bus all the way around before getting off at the GU hospital that we passed 30 mins before. Then, we started to head the wrong direction but another girl showed us the way, which was very sweet. So, We finally got to McDonough "arena" which was actually a glorified high school gym. So, we waited for about 45 minutes until the concert began. I had already bought my Mraz Merch. A really cool "O. Lover" shirt, and it's purple. Then, Carbon Leaf came out, and rocked my socks off. They were awesome. They played What About Everything, Let Your Troubles Roll By, Life Less Ordinary, Changeless and THE BOXER! I just recently downloaded the boxer and it is such a great song. It made my life when they played it. Then, they announced that they'd be by the merch table afterwards, so we went over and I bought a poster and durga bought a poster and a shirt for them to sign. And, we successfully got each band member to sign our posters and her shirt, plus we got a picture with Barry, the lead singer. While all this was going on, some other random opener was going on... his name was Raoul something...
Then, came Jason Mraz!!! He opened with Life is Wonderful, and it was. Unfortunately, neither durga nor i recognized a lot of the songs b/c they were new ones, and they were mostly slow, so the concert wasn't terrific. But, he did play Curbside Prophet, You and I Both, and Remedy. We stuck around 'til the very end, and he didn't play Wordplay :-( I have to admit, we were getting a bit cranky, but we were tired, still stressing about how to get home, and we hadn't eaten since 3. Anyways, the concert was good. His parents were there, which was cute. And, he is suuuuch an amazing vocalist, so even when we were cranky, i looved hearing his voice.
Anyway, we got back safely and all in one place. We decided that buses sucked and we took a cab to the metro, and it was a closer one minus the scary escalator. Then, when we got back to GMU we went to Ikes and had breakfast. Tasty.
Good times!
Love,
Franny
