So I was listening to npr this morning, and on morning edition they were talking about how shady the Gonzalez-firing of attorneys thing is. There are 21 "interim" attorneys serving right now - because "interim" lawyers don't require Congressional approval, thanks to our lovely Patriot Act - plus the appointment of judges is becoming an issue because the relevant offices in the white house have been so busy doing damage control on various past scandals that they're forgetting to, oh I don't know, RUN THE COUNTRY.
I had a few thoughts, this morning, as I listened to npr. The first was, "oh look, a handbasket. isn't that nice. I wonder where we're going in it?"
and second, it's unfathomable to me that no one's made an attempt on Bush's life yet. Because I like to think of myself as a pretty upstanding citizen - I don't have any traffic tickets or criminal record, I volunteer occasionally, and I can't think of anything I've ever done, apart from torturing my little sister for the first ten years of her life, that could be construed as really morally reprehensible. But this morning, I have to admit, I was having some homicidal thoughts. I fucking hate Bush. I really can't see his untimely removal from office as being such a bad thing.
The last thought I had was that it might be unwise to put things that are in any way construable as threats, because there's probably other stuff in the Patriot Act that makes me a terrorist for articulating my intense dislike of our president and everything he has stood for throughout his administration.
Land of the free and home of the brave, my ass.
