My face has swollen up significantly today since the surgery,
despite repeated icings. After gazing in the mirror at my new
round face, I began to feel less and less like the person
I knew myself to be.

And then . . . she emerged.

The above pictures are from Betty Ann's self-portrait collection.
In addition to working as assistant head cashier at Jorge's
FastStop Convenience Store and Coffee Shop, Betty Ann is an
aspiring photographer and model. She feels the self-taken
polaroid shots above provide a great deal of insight into what
it feels like to be an ambitious young girl, "fighting to be
seen in the see-frame of the world's gigantic eye socket."

And now, an evening with Betty Ann.

Betty Ann loves her lemon slice earrings. They were a gift from Mom,
and remind her of her favorite drink, "ice tea, as long as
the ice tea has lemon slices."

Before slipping under the covers, Betty Ann cleanses her face
with cold cream and applies a layer of fresh makeup, including
her signature pink gloss and blue eyeliner. "You never
know who might show up!"

A loose scrunchy keeps Betty Ann's tresses out of her face at
nighttime. "If I leave it down I eat too much of it," she informs.

Being sure to remove unsightly body hair keeps B.A. feeling ultra feminine, and that's no B.S.

Betty indulges in some nighttime reading.

Betty Ann poses in her favorite place in her favorite slippers.

"Whoa-o-o-a!"

"I fell!'

"I can't believe I fell!"

Betty Ann prepares to curl up with her favorite bear, Dog.

"I call him Dog because he kisses like a dog! He's wet! Cuz I keep him in the bathtub."

Betty Ann sips her favorite bedtime beverage and snuggles
up next to her favorite Beanie Babies. "I keep them in their
cases so they don't get dusty. Except for the snake, I let him out
because snakes sprung from dust you know."

"I like to listen to the song 'Yoo-Hoo' by Imperial Teen
while I drink my drink because it sounds like it's about what
I'm drinking even though it's really not."

"I yoo hoo! I yoo hoo! I yoo hoo! I yoo hoo!"

Betty Ann proves to be a great listener . . .

. . . until a long day at the register begins to catch up with her.

Good night, Betty Ann!
