Here's an announcement for a symposium on Issue 1..... I figured I'd do my part on my little space that very few people read anyway and give a lil' plug for it. If you are interested, lemmi know... even if you aren't a law student, you should come!
On
Thursday, April 7 from 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm the Gay Straight Law Alliance, the Law
Association for Women, the Federalist Society, the ACLU Student Organization,
and the Department of Student Life will be hosting a symposium in the Student
Union Theatre to discuss the purposes and consequences of Issue 1: Ohio's
Marriage Amendment. We have invited speakers from various organizations to
address the differing viewpoints of the amendment including its affects on the
LGBT community, domestic violence laws, domestic partner benefits and the
traditional definition of marriage.
Panelists will include Prof.
Wilson Huhn and representatives from the Human Rights Campaign, the Alliance
Defense Fund, the ACLU, and the Pro-Family Network. Prof. Brant Lee will
moderate an open discussion on Issue 1 followed by a question/answer session
with the audience. Following the program there will be a reception featuring
our panelists and FREE pizza, soda, and other
snacks.
