Grow up...

Remembering back to when I was a kid, I seem to recall one of the more significant lessons taught: do not be a sore loser. I also recall another lesson: if you go off by yourself and sulk, you do no one any significant harm, other then yourself. Both were lessons in that whole collective experience that is "growing up". Considering I believe my upbringing was pretty typical for an American kid, I do not have much reason to believe that most of my fellow Americans were not raised with the same childhood lessons I was.

I have every respect for someone who is willing to take their responsibilities as a citizen of the United States seriously, including their desire to cast their vote and have their voice heard. More of us in this nation need to be like that, so that this country speaks to its government in the fashion its democratic principles intended. But guess what, folks. You win some, you lose some. There will come times when you cast your vote and the overall vote just goes the other way. That happens. You may not like the outcome, but you move on. The ideal of democracy is that everyone has a voice in the outcome, not that the outcome must suit every person's desires.

Following the news lately, there seem to be not a few people out there who need to delve back into those childhood and relearn some of those childhood lessons again...
