I'm still here!
What I've been up to:
Saw Clash of the Titans. Boring as hell. Apparently suffered a lot in post-production, lots of editing and reshoots to change the movie entirely.
Got my other big toe cut on. No more ingrown toenails for that one either, although my toe hurts. :p
Learned how to change the battery in my mower, as my old one died. All fixed, lawn mowed.
Learned how to take apart the drain plug in a sink to try and figure out why my master bath sink wouldn't drain right. Short answer: lots of goop in it. All fixed now.
Read the first two trades of The Walking Dead, a very good zombie apocalypse comic series that has recently been optioned as a tv series. So far it's really good, although it feels like everything is happening really fast; probably because those two trades represent a year of comic issues. And it's not wasting time showing traveling or periods of nothing happening. I imagine the tv show will have more of that, it wouldn't really work in comic form.
Reportedly this series gets really bleak, but the first few trades are fairly typical, or at least typical of what I think a zombie apocalypse would be like. The dialog is kind of...well, excessive, in parts is the only way I can think to say it. Basically it's one of those instances of the writer really likes the way the words flow, but people don't actually talk that way. Kind of brings me out of the story a bit, but I've always been a fan of writing real speech over 'literary' writing. But that's just me.
