So, only 2 days after the fact (I process a lot. Is that normal?), here are my thoughts on the movie
Inlaws & Outlaws:
Go see it. Now, if it's in your areaOlder gay couples are really cuteUnmarried couples (straight or gay) should have documentation filed relating to their couplehood (is that a word?)I'm really glad I wasn't born 40 years ago.I'm really glad my family isn't Mormon. It's really a fantastic movie, and I recommend it HIGHLY. The only thing that makes it hard for everyone everywhere to see it is that they won't be releasing it with a big production company, so a group has to sponsor it and find a location to show it. I will say, though, that if your local church/synagogue/knitting group/coffee klatch/yoga class has been discussing gay marriage, this movie is a great way to stimulate dialogue, and it's cheap to bring to town, too!
I sound like I've been hired to advertise, but I haven't. It was just so great to see a movie treating straight and gay relationships equally. I especially liked that you didn't know who was straight and who was gay immediately upon seeing them onscreen - you learned about their relationship experiences first and then, once you were won over, you eventually figured out on which side of the marriage experience they were found.
After seeing this movie and processing it for a few days, I want to get married. Oh, well.
