¡hola! ¿como andan?
everything still great here in federal. kinda tired, as today is wednesday, and not monday. Pday is always a much needed break, and when it comes 2 days later than usual, it is even much the more needed.
we had a pretty good week and a half. the zone leaders came down last week and worked a day with us, which meant 4 elders here. we got a lot done and found some good people. it was fun, our zone leaders rock. one of them goes home tomorrow, im gonna miss him.
we're still working with that family of 5. there were a few minor complications that prevented the majority of them from coming to church this past week, including the mom, but we're pretty sure all still want to get baptized. the 13 year old daughter will either way, she rocks. we've found another young couple, the husband of which is the nephew of an active member of the church. weve still only taught the wife and her sister, and as much as they proclaimed to be hardcore catholic/evangelists they understood well, asked good questions, and were willing to read the book of mormon and pray. there's a 19 year old kid taking the lessons, and has even accepted a baptism date, but a few members says he's iffy and has heard the lessons before but wont give up his other friends and the things they do. we did, however, teach his grandma yesterday, another really good lesson and we have hopes for her too.
all of those people together (including the husband of that one family) is 10 people overall. that's a lot. most number of investigators Ive probably ever had. the Lord is deffinately blessing us a lot down here. what all we're doing right, Im not exactly sure, but we are deffinately happy. we're doin' what we can to keep this up.
this past sunday basically rocked. we had church as usual, 30 people showed up, which is one short of 31, the most number of people Ive seen show up to church. after church I went with my comp (who is 2nd counselor in the branch presidency) to do the weekly financial report. I always go in with them, because Im supposed to be with my comp anyway, but last sunday I actually asked "do I actually HAVE to be in that meeting with you?" which turned out to be a rather ironic question, as I usually dont, but that sunday it was different. the meeting was a little longer than normal, but the entire time one of the youth was outside the door waiting the whole time...I knew SOMETHING was up...
when it eventually ended, 2 of the youth came in and said the primary was doing a special activity about the rod of iron and needed me to help out. I noticed they needed me and not my companion. I gave them their moneys worth, if you will, but I gave in and let them blindfold me and lead me down the iron rod, tripping over some chairs and what not. when I was done, I was sat down in a chair, the blindfold lifted, and I was at one of 3 tables filled with the members who started singing happy birthday in spanish :-P :-P
we knew one member was planning SOMETHING, because my comp was right in front of me when he told the hermana she could fix something up, but I had no idea it was going to be something of such magnitude. it was rather fun, we ate cantelones (it would be hard to explain them, but go find out what they are, then learn how to make them, they are goooooood) and lots of cake, then sat around for a while. both birthdays in the mission I was hoping to have still been in the area I was in right before my birthday, but this birthday was deffinately way better than the last. the members here basically rock my socks.
on monday we ate lunch with hermana diaz. her daughter kept with a long held tradition here in federal about birthdays and elders that are leaving. right before she left to go to school, she walked back in and smashed an egg over my head and wished me a happy birthday. it was funny because it was totally unexpected. my comp was more upset at her than I was, considering I didnt even care. anyway, that was about all of my birthday excitement this year. :-P
still no other packages, and no birthday cards either, but there is still hope. here in this zone we dont get the mail quite as much, so it's anyone's guess really. itll get here, have faith. transfers are tomorrow, but neither my comp nor I am leaving. but I am finally going to be District Leader. Im kind of excited and overwhelmed all at the same time. ive kinda been waiting for a long time for this, but now im realizing all the responsabilities Im going to have now, like teaching lessons in the district meetings every week, going on devisions with the other areas to see how everything is going, and also the coolest yes also most important thing, it is not my responsability to give the baptism interviews for anyone getting baptized in my district. wow, eh?
well, that's about it for this week. hope everything is still goin good somewhere up there. I love you all and thank you all for the support and packages and prayers and everything else!

Love,
Elder Casey Adams
