Hola Señor Kiosquero,
...no, dont worry, you wont get it...I just couldnt think of anything more creative...it's from a song...ANWYAY...fa, what a good week will do to ya! here I am, a whole ton of a lot happier than I was last tuesday. it probably started that day when we finally got a "call-back" from someone in the street. in other words, we conviced a guy in the street to give us his adress and set an appointment with him; it wasnt much, but it was a start. wednesday morning the mission president called us up to ask how everything was doing. gave us a little "pep-talk", if you will. ::checks last email::...oh, I already mentioned that last week, macenudo (it means "groovy").
so then, wednesday night, we get a call from the APs telling me they were gonna come down to do splits with us. I think that usually inflicts fear in other missionaries, "oh no! the APs are coming HERE!" but I was rather fine about it. one of two things result after doing such splits.
1. the day doesnt go so good, you might get cane-dropped by the APs and the next day you just brush it of, or:
2. the day actually goes outstanding and you can brag about doing splits with the APs and how awesome it was.
well, luckily, #2 happened. thursday morning we did our weekly planning session and cleaned the pench. the APs finally got here at about 430-445. I did the ole "tie-a-balloon-on-the-gate-so-that-people-know-which-house-it-is" trick (thanks to the bday balloons that Ive still got). we probably got out about 500, my comp went with one Elder Narayan, and I went with Elder Borges. basically it was a darn rockin' day. we visited one less active and then did street contacts the whole time...except we actually ended up getting lots of call-backs/new investigators from it..well...5, but that is a lot for us. Elder Borges wasnt necessarily doing anything all that different, but it was still somehow really awesome. and the whole time we were talkin', he was kinda teachin me stuff about what president is wantin right now in the mission and other stuff that was A. really helpful, and B. was gettin me way animated again. we met with the other elders at the church at 730 as we had our first correlation mtg with our new mission leader. we found out the the other elders had a day even better than ours, with 7 call-backs, most of them being really awesome ones. 12 new investigators all in one day.
well, then friday we had Zone Conferance, that was awesome as usual. i was dead tired around the end of it though. but overall once again another thing to lift my spirits...all except for the fact that I had to change into my suit at conferance and ended up leaving my favorite work pants at that chapel, but the elders there are going to send them to me. but anyway, I also got a letter that day from a family in my last area. it was a letter like that, as I told the elders in the pench we stayed in that night, that makes the mission worth it. I almost couldnt remember who it was before I opened the letter, the last name wasnt familiar. it was a letter from the family of the kid that wanted me to baptize him in Santa Fe Norte, it was awesome. apparently a bunch of relatives of the family had also gotten baptized...and even the dad (who was nice enough to us, but never wanted anything to do with the gospel) apparently got baptized last thursday! all icing on the cake for a good day.
Then saturday we went out to teach all these call-backs from the splits we did. we went to all the ones my comp had gotten as they were a bit better than mine. when we got near the first house my comp noticed that the house already had 3 seats placed outside! it was an old man, probably a solid 70 years old, Marcial. he even already had an old Book of Mormon, too. we taught him, awesome lesson. he accepted baptism, but doesnt have an actual date yet, because he knew he wouldnt be able to get to church the next day. we then went to the next appointment, a cool enough catholic lady. the elders had talked to them about our message relating to the family and she really wanted to hear about that. I really felt we should still do a lesson 1 (the restoration), so we just tied everything in with the family; like how the gospel blesses families, prophets teach us and we can learn about their teachings best in the family setting, the fact that Joseph Smith's family was way important in the restoration, etc. it was cool. then the last lesson was with another lady that has a huge family. we wanted to teach everyone at once, but she was the only one with time really. it was also a pretty good lesson. it was not really any out of the ordinary experiance, but she still understood everything and excepted to hear more.
out of the 4 appointments we had set for that day, we taught those 3 out of the 4, that is actually really good. we even found the 4th person at the bus terminal, he had to go to the hospital in San Nicloas, but we set up another appointment with him. none of the other 3 could come to church yesterday. excuses or not, they seemed to have genuine reasons why the couldnt yesterday specifically, but at least 2 of the 3 seemed like they really did want to go. moreover, we have appointments with all 3 of those people tonight. if we end up teaching all 3 again, that would be pretty amazing for a monday night.
so, wow, that was a lot again...but this time all is a lot happier. all is well in Ramallo. in other news. yep, ive already gotten a bunch of emails from other people. we're about to leave to eat, probably, but if I dont have time to answer everyone today, Ill get back to y'all next week. wrote the email on the lap-top, eh? how's she holdin' up? considering the fact that we need to leave to get food before stuff closes, and a lack of anything else to say, that really might be all for now. on a side note, anytime people send me stuff, like candy, gobstoppers would now also be an appreciated thing. my comp has some and I ate some last night for the first time since probably when I was going with scott and dad to drum lessons (yeah, like 3000 years ago). but anyway, glad to hear that everything is doing good on the homefront. until next time, stay safe, have fun, be good, and any other sage advice that you can think of.
Love,
Elder Casey Adams
