Weekly Ramblings #41

"It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood, wont you be my neighbor?"
...meh...I couldnt think of anything else...and it IS afterall, a really nice day here.

So, Im back again...if you look at the number of this week's weekly ramblings, then add the 10 weeks I was in the MTC...that's right, 51 weeks...which means NEXT week...yup, you guessed it, 52 weeks, or in other words, 1 year! there happens to be a transfer right on the day I hit a year, but I really think Im gonna hit a year without much excitement. we all think Im staying put this time and that my comp is gonna leave and be senior comp...then again, I still COULD leave...it wouldnt be the first time president wants to keep everyone on their toes. well, anyway, Ill get more philisophical and reflective/pensive on hitting a year next monday, when it will be 3 days before a year, and not 10...
Yeah, dont worry, if it has ANYTHING to do with president bush, we probably know about. the people we contact in the street usually like bothering us about that. it's not that the people dont like americans, it's that they dont like bush, just most of them associate the people with the president, but every now and again (like about 45 minutes ago) you find someone who starts talking about it but knows that there is a difference between the people and the Pres. ...most people dont even know why they dont like bush, they just think he is an evil evil man, period. there is a sign my comp took a picture of that he is going to give me a copy of, it was up everywhere. it said:
"FUERA BUSH! el viene por nuestro país, nuestra agua, él viene por todo!"
The english translation for that would be
"GET OUT BUSH! he comes for our country, our water, he comes for everything!"
.....yes...you read it right, water...we've been making jokes about that with all the members here. we arent really missionaries, we are really just here to take all their water. we're going to drink as much as we can then hop on a plane to carry it back to the states...then we usually ask for a drink of water...the song "people are strange". by the doors, comes to mind.
I had asked president about the recommend, he actually thought it was a good question.
"I have heard several talks refering to the temple recommend and
the 10 virgins. You know -- being prepared. Now I am certain there
is no doctrine which make the TR the judge of our abilities to enter
the Highest kindom. Only the Lord will make that judgment.
However, the TR is a great symbol of our faith and worthiness. AND
everybody should have a current TR all the time. Before next
interviews, please remind me to bring the book."
...I honestly wasnt expecting that...apparently it was recent when they changed it to 2 years, because mine was deffinately 1 year, and thus, already expired. I always assumed it didnt really matter on the mission because obviously any missionary here longer than me has a recommend for 1 year and it would have already expired, but I doubt they all get them renewed during the mission, because in our last interview of the mission with the president he gives us a temple interview...but I guess it's all good, Im gonna get mine renewed either way. Today Im planning on asking president if we can go to the temple with our branch in december...now, the answer to that will most likely be a no, but I figure there's no harm in asking, I figure people dont actually ask much...we'll see what happens.
Ill see what happens with the meatloaf, I dont know how long it will be before I try making it. and, well...about wal-mart...yeah, I dont think Ill be there anytime soon for a looooooong time. there are only 2 walmarts in the mission, santa fe, and parana...if you are in one of those 2 zones you can go once a transfer...well, I left santa fe in the beginning october and who knows if Ill even ever be in any of those 2 zones again...and I didnt think to ask when I was there, but I would actually assume that they wouldnt take american cash there...I would be pretty sure that the missionaries are the only americans that even go to that store on a regular basis.
so, I got 2 of my christmas packages this past week... :-/ so, here's what happened...the costums people didnt like the fact that there was strange wrapped stuff in there and ripped open parts of some stuff...and I mean ripped, it couldnt have been an accident what some of those tears were...so anyway...anything that was completely reveiled...has already been opened...the kool-aid for example, there was no hiding that that was kool-aid, the entire top was ripped off, leaving it right out in the open...but I promise, anything where the wrapping was intact, is STILL intact, and will be until christmas (...except maybe the toothbrush...) but there are still 5 or 6 things that are still perfectly wrapped...and then whatever other packages are still coming, those are also un-opened, too....stupid costums people...
well, anyway, about the week. it was a pretty good week. nothing of HUGE excitement. well, yes, we taught the 19yo granddaughtor of a recent convert and set a baptismal date with her...but we later found out that she was just visiting for a while and doesnt actually live here, she lives in Buenos Aires with her husband/boyfriend thing. so we told her that if she still has interest she can give us her adress for BA and then we can send the missionaries there to go find her. other than that basically the highlight of our week was that we did the 20 contacts every day and the 15 lessons (I dont know if I ever explained the 15 lessons, but we're supposed to do that every week, too) and it was dang hard. we had to teach 5 yesterday, but we pulled it off...Im pretty sure that's honestly about it for the week, not much goin on here right now, but this week has just begun, we'll see what happens. until next time, im gonna go to the zone activity now and play soccer and watch a movie, fun times. everyone stay safe up there. be good. smile.

Love,
Elder Casey Adams
