Weekly Ramblings #21

"Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends, we're so glad you could attend. come inside, come inside."
I believe that is from an Emerson, Lake and Palmer song with some crazy wierd name...anyway, the first sunny day in almost the whole week, and im back again, on with the show...or something like that...
this week has been a rather hard one. we taught 2 lessons in the whole week. the city is kinda small and Elder Ortega doesnt know where to go anymore because he says he's already knocked pretty much the whole area with Elder Knight. the few investigators weve had, we've dropped because they arent progressing, as in, they said they didnt wanna hear more, or just refuse to fulfil with the comitments.well, this week we will be looking as usual, and we even have a reference or two to go find. im not sure if i mentioned this in my last email (because i dont know if it had happened yet) but the one bit of good news is this: Mabel, our dry-member, told us one day that she had good news.
"what, jorge wants to get married?" -Me
"...Yes! (with an explanation following)"
I didnt really understand the explination, but basically she could be getting married to her husband...if that makes sense...and if she does it before august 25th (assuming im here for 2 transfers) Ill be here to see her get baptized/baptize her. and if she gets baptized, the 4 to 6 of her baptizable kids...will probably get baptized as well. that would be most excellent. we're still tryin' to teach her husband, only once so far, he's usually either not there, or really busy.
Its too bad you guys dont speak spanish...and that I dont remember your new phone numbers...we went to their house yesterday for an asado (a BBQ that is a lot better, and a lot LOT bigger than anything in the states), and, being father's day, they actually called Elder Ortega's house and talked to his mom for a couple minutes. as he lives only about 5 hours from here i suppose it wasnt rediculously expensive. well, I made the joke "when are you guys gonna call my parents?"...Mabel got all excited, and really would have done it...but she wouldnt have let me break any rules, which means I wouldnt have been able to talk to you guys, they dont know a lick of english, and you guys dont know a lick of spanish (according to dad)...this would have made a call rather complicated...but just know that there are people here that were willing to make fathers day completely rad. as it is, all I can do is say
Happy Father's Day!!
¡¡Feliz Día del Padre!!
Tuesdays the only difference is the mornings. we get to get up at 500 to be ready for the van to pick us up at 630 to go to venado tuerto, about 1.5 hours away, for our meetings. 3 hours travel for 2 hours of meetings...I dont remember who I got it from, but ive adopted the theory/motto/thingy that if one is going to travel, he should spend at least the amount of time where he goes, as it takes to travel to and from...tuesday district meetings break this rule. drat. anyway, as far as i know, we dont have the problem of dealing with inactive RMs anymore, those were all in San Nicolas.
Still no packages. i havent gotten any mail for 3 weeks, it's rather sad. maybe this week ill just recieve a whole boat load...well...one can only hope. Pdays, if we're lucky, we get to do email, shop, and then sleep. this past monday we had a zone activity, it was really fun and all, but to wake up at 500 2 days in a row, to pay $20 2 days in a row, to only play basketball for an hour and a half...well...im glad we only do these activities once a month. we can go sightseeing if we want...the only problem is, in the 2 areas ive been in...there isnt/hasnt been anything to really see...in rufino, the only time i see another elder (10 others to be exact) is tuesdays for district meetings, and anytime we have zone activities.
hey, make sure nothing happens to that picture of me, the mission pres and his wife. that's the only one ive got...because I didnt send you that picture, president marrill does that for everyone. well, we all thought we'd get one more chance to take a picture with him before he leaves, because we have a zone conferance every transfer...well, this transfer we arent having zone conferences, and he leaves in 9 days. We all have anticipation of what's gonna happen when the new president gets here. what rules are gonna change and stuff like that. some want rules to change that probably wont...like we probably wont be able to play soccer still, stuff like that. Im hoping he changes the rule that we can only email our parents, its very possible...but then again, who knows. we'll find out in a couple weeks what kind of crazyness is gonna happen.
Well, I think that's all the rambling from this side of the equator for a week. hope all is going well up there, and that y'all are enjoying your summer, because it's butt-freakin cold here. :-P
