Congratulations to everyone who got the day off for a <2-inch, wet winter quasi-storm! :)
Noodge busted me (?) a link to developing corn-syrup industry news about mercury tainting. i've been trying to avoid HFCS (as it's oft abbreviated) for many many moons because of my contempt and suspicion over money-motivated industrial food production methods, and corn syrup is a
rather artificial product. Mercury appears in the chemical process that converts maize slurry into HFCS.
One instance of the news in question.
So i guess i can add stupefaction (and sundry other mercury-poisoning symptoms) to my list of reasons to avoid HFCS.
O sweet sugar cane, beets, maples, and honey, don't fail me!
