[... tch. Tonegawa isn't exactly jumping at the chance to see Kaiji again either, but it's not like he has much of a choice.]
No catch. I just need a small favour from you. A couple of hours honest work, if you like. [He pauses.] You do know what honest work is, don't you, Kaiji-kun?
[Alright, alright, enough teasing. He needs Kaiji's assistance right now and antagnising him isn't exactly going to help.]
I will be meeting with someone who puports to be in charge of this place soon- naturally, I'm not convinced. I want you to come along in case something happens.
[Kaiji stares at him for a few moments then gives an abrupt little laugh.]
Is this a joke? No, really, you're kidding, right? What the hell do you even want me to do, huh? Because guess what- I'm not a bodyguard. If someone tries anything I'll be in danger too.
Make it a hundred and I'll think about it.
[He's not gonna go for it but starting high seems like a good strategy.]
[Now it's Tonegawa's turn to hesitate.] ... no. But those types of men like to think they have some sort of control over the situation- assuming they're genuine. I might be able to leave, if they are.
You might be able to leave-?! How?! I thought- I mean, I was told that- [He shakes his head.] It doesn't matter. But if you can go, then I'm going with you. You're not leaving me here to rot, Tonegawa.
[He doesn't want to push it though- or get his hopes up for that matter. Likely as not, he's getting scammed. Either way, it doesn't hurt to be along for the ride.]
... remember. Thirty dollars up front. Don't try and get away with less.
[He holds up a $20 bill.]
Do you want this?

[He hesitates.] What're you going to see them about? Do you even know their names?

[... hnngh. Kaiji has a point, though. He can't possibly refuse him now and then still expect him to come.
Well. There's no reason why he can't make a few quiet deals, if it comes to it- there's no way he's losing out on anything.]
We'll just have to wait and see.
