So, I only have about 20 minutes before class, but I felt like updating. I have a nice long list of things to do this week, including applying to schools and making sure that I can get out of this one... You know, for someone who's so 'on track,' I think I'm actually really off track. I hope I'm doing this right.
Since I don't have a whole lot of time to update on how cool Thanksgiving was, or how much I'm dying for it to be Christmas, I will leave you with this series of questions. If you have answers, please reply, for I am one curious... girl.
1) Do you know the music to the Jonathan Larson musical "RENT?"
2) If so, how well? Like, you can recite every single word of both CDs with/without the aid of the CD? Or just a strong familiarity with the songs?
3) Have you seen the show on stage? What did you think?
4) Did you see the movie? What did you think???!!!
Seriously, it's bugging me. Personally, I loved the show but can't, by any streach of the imagination, be called a 'Rent Head,' and I enjoyed the movie. That is to say, I don't have any sort of urge to kick Chris Columbus' ass (for any new, Rent-related reason, that is...) and I was entertained. But... it really felt like it lacked any energy. Everything was there, the actors (most of whom starred in the broadway version) knew their shit and their characters, the songs were flawless if even surrounded by somewhat schmultzy backrounds/sets.
But all together good.
What do you think?
