Recently I've come to realize that I actively dislike the movie "Garden State". The thought of watching it doesn't appeal to me at all, and it confuses me when other people express their love for it and/or a desire to watch it

oh you bastard. you tricked meeeeeee. I haven't seen the movie again so keep in mind I was pretty high and kept getting lost during the conversations but I got the gist of it.
... the movie is completely contrived (I feel like an asshole for using that word but I looked it up on dictionary.com and it means exactly what I mean). no girl talks to you when a dog humps your leg, she scoots away. also, she doesn't take off her headphones FOR ANYTHING (I know this because nobody EVER takes off their headphones. we're all too busy living our life to strike up conversations with random strangers specially ones as fucked up as that kid). maybe if she was an old flame or something but they dont know each other at aaaaalll. plus their conversations are... contrived (surprise!). I dont know exactly what was being said (seriously, dank shit) but the way it was said and the fact that it was all extremely deep personal shit to "met a week ago stranger" just turned me off completely. not only that but huge gaping plot holes (he hasn't talked to his dad in years but still takes the pills *what!?*[I can list others]) made it all the worse. when my friend was describing it to me he said "dude goes back home and meets geeky natalie portman and they get it on." and I have to say I would totally go for her regardless but in this movie she was almost so perfect that it came off as fake. no offense girls but I've yet to meet a chick that perfect (then again, I was high so I dont remember exactly what made this so but I felt it). I say almost because I realized she wasn't geeky so much as off-beat. I think.
DISCLAIMER: I'd just read "sex, drugs, and cocoa puffs." The very first chapter deals with "fake love" and the useless expectations that movies create. I intuited something along these lines before but that book put it into words. this was the hiroshima of almost every romantic comedy or romantic anything in any movie. also, can't you just wait until I see it sober to ask for judgement on it??? sorry garden state fans :P
