Yeah, I too enjoyed it note than I expected to (I think having very low expectations going in helped)--it could have indeed been worse! Although I hated the ret on with Gallifrey, it's stupid IMO, and they are forgetting that the real reason why the Doctor did it was because the High Council of Time Lords were planning to destroy reality--what happened there, lol? (Ironically they showed that epp immediately after the special here).
My main worry was that it would be current!Rose, because DNW Moffat effing with that canon better left to the image nation, or writing Rose period, since he sucks at it--this way it's the best of both worlds, we get to see Billie and get a nod to the importance of Rose in the Doctor's life, but no messing with her character.
I miss Ten so much...*sigh* Those glasses...;). Also the Tom Baker touch was nice.
Were you able to watch it live on TV?
Also apparently CE was considering coming back, but Moffat was such an asshole he chased him away and CE said Never Mind.

I suck at Who canon... I know very little about what happened before Nine, so you may be right that it doesn't make sense... but I don't mind the retcon. If the show has to continue, there has to be new life to it, and I think this brings a lot of possibilities. Also, it was done in a way that makes some sense, so I'm really ok with it! Now, all depends on what they do with it... and I have no confidence in Moffat. Sigh.

Lol The End of Time was in NuWho though--it was Tennant's farewell!!! Remember his death? ;) That was it! In that epp we learned that the real reason he committed genocide was because he knew of the Time Lord leaders' plan to destroy everything. But the special totally ignored that threat, which is still ongoing...
And well Moffat knows Billie is popular (she is regularly voted Favorite Companion in the polls) so I'm sure that's why he included her.
Yes, 9+10>>>>11 indeed! And I cant wait for Moffat to go either, as you know! ;). Glad we are in such agreement about DW! ;) And yeah you should watch "The Genesis of the Daleks" with Four sometime--it's probably the most approachable Classic Who I've seen so far, since it includes familiar characters like Sarah Jane and Davros, and it has an air of tragic inevitability and angst and moral dilemmas reminiscent of the RTD era of NuWho. (Also I met Tom Baker! I stumbled upon a signing when I was doing a self-guided walk in London after returning from Cardiff and visiting Jo!)
