The French Kiss

Aug 22, 2009 23:59

The French kiss each other each time they meet. Often, even when they meet for the first time. On the cheek, of course. It is nothing more than a tradition, right? Every French learner knows it. Many people of other countries do not - physically - understand it, nor accept it. For me, it never ceased to be a matter of a slight misunderstanding. Of mockery, too. “Oh, we Russians have another tradition... We do some other things, right on the Red Square...” The French, for their part, could not understand this misunderstanding. LOL. It seemed to be incurable. Now that I've learnt something about the traditional French kiss, I will surely stop mocking at them... so slightly.
Kissing you the French who intends only to greet you, will not touch your cheek by his or her lips. Not at all, even making a loud smack. To onlookers, those people are really kissing. But really, they do it in a very “hypocritical” manner ;)).
