My schedule has been upside down busy. I've been busy making up work at work from when the computer crashed. I'm technically even-steven with my hours, and my desk looks a lot better, but accomplishing this entailed a couple of late nights (like real late nights) and it really killed my progress on nearly everything except recipe research (which should have been done by now).
Went to the Shire social Monday, but did not have time to cook any experimental dishes, I was too busy researching a feast menu. So I brought paper bowls, pickles and pistachios (what I had on hand). I also brought along my crate of period cookbooks for people to look at.
No one really looked at cookbooks, instead I had a few people asking me questions about period cooking before we all started to eat. I have promised to get with Casey later about period cooking - she ended up working in the kitchen once we all got started and did not have time to look. Lady Diana made this incredibly wonderful Tangy Tangy...chicken with pomegranate sauce. She complained it was too tangy and there was more sauce than chicken...It was intense but I LOVED the tang - and I was putting the sauce on other items on my plate. I still don't know who did the rice with all the cinnamon & almonds and pine nuts but that was good with Diana's pomegranate sauce too. Lady Ragnhildr had the most wonderful roasted parsnips.
I'm going to have to firm up my menu hopefully by Friday night. Then I'll have to start pre-cooking! The problem is I keep finding out things that make me want to revise (i.e.CORRECT) my menu. I wished I had time to pre-test more recipes too. I know enough to know what it will be like and prevent any snags but Eh..we will see what happens.
I still need to work on Roman Garb, and set up the tent to do the rain test... Must do that TONIGHT! No working late. Must set up as soon as I get home. Just get it up and get it over-with!
...things keep interfering with this stuff, so I'm frustrated with the lack of forward motion. Oh, to be caught up!
