It was a lot better than I thought it would be. I'd read all the spoilers I could get my hands on before I went, so I was prepared for the gaping plot-holes and missing/extra scenes, and I was able to sit back and enjoy it. It was much funnier than I expected, too, which is always good.
I'm not going to complain too much about the obvious problems, because everyone else has already done it; I will, however, complain about the beginning, which I was not prepared for. What on earth was that all about? I don't understand why they cut out the Dursleys and Dumbledore's conversation with them in favour of a pointless scene of some random muggle girl trying to chat Harry up? My sister said that she thought they were trying to make it more of a teenagers film; what do you think? And why would Harry have spent his summer riding around on trains? What does that have to do with anything?
One other thing that I found unreasonably annoying was the scene where Ron and Hermione were telling Harry that their parents didn't want them to go back to school. Molly wouldn't do that. In DH she was clearly upset about the fact that the trio weren't going back to school, and that was after Dumbledore died. She wouldn't have been worried about her children's safety at school while Dumbledore was still alive (not enough to kick up such a fuss about it anyway). It just doesn't fit.
Things that I liked about the movie:
1)Slughorn. Jim Broadbent was fantastic. I loved that he wore the muggle teacher's robes and cap!
2)The Felix Felicis scene. This was just the right amounts of funny and sad. I especially like how they added in Slughorn's story about Francis the fish; that was heartbreaking.
3)Bellatrix. I've always been quite interested in Bellatrix (maybe that should worry me?). I especially liked the Spinner's End scene, where she was being nosey and fidgeting with Snape's stuff; it kind of reminded me of Tonks' curiousity at the Dursleys', which makes sense since they are related, though I doubt that the film-makers considered that too much.
4)Hermione and Lavender's fight over Ron's sickbed. Can you imagine Ron's face if anyone told him that he broke up with girlfriend and confeesed his love for Hermione in a room full of teachers?!?!
