Merry Christmas rude0and0ginger

[Alonso has been feeling the need to get away from what has been going on around the Nexus for the last few weeks, but while the Portal has been broken, there is only so far they are able to go. Luckily Alonso discovered a small collection of cabins a little ways out of town in the snow-covered hills. After speaking to the owner, he rented a ( Read more... )

I just saw that first one of Alonso on tumblr earlier tonight and was totally thinking of iconing it ;)

XD

Honestly? Still on haitus. Technically. But Alonso Frame and Turlough are a different story. (And Syrena and Kilroy.)

I also have a cold that is kicking my ass and has turned me into a vampire, apparently.

Good night. Also, our comments for Kilroy and Syrena are disappearing so replying to the original post when it gets like that may be a good idea. THAT'S what I'm hating about these new comments. Who thought that was a good idea?

It's always done that, though. It just used to gives us the "s2 coding error" message that it doesn't anymore.

I started a new thread in that post, so check there for her new comment :)

Okay, I see. It starts disappearing off the page, however I still get to click on the "no subject" link, so yay. It jst looks funky but still accessible.

Yeah, but overall I really do like the new comments pages. Unlike most people.

So I app'd a new character in f_s now that there are so many open again (that entire thing made me go wtf the other night when I realized) and wow, the way the mods are replying to apps now comes across as rude, even if it's more "professional" or what not. Looking at what is there, I think I know which thread was the one you had app'd and I totally understand why you were upset about that!

BTW whatever other comments you posted (for Syrena or Alonso as "new comment" I don't see them. Or I may have read what you said wrong.)

Anyway... Yeah don't even get me started on that whole "first person" thing.

I think the thing of it is that it's not Zara that's approving these characters. From what Ive heard is that it's the new mod they picked. Whoever plays Mega Man or something like that. IDK.

Anyway, I sent a message to Zara about it, so... Yeah. Like I said in the message to her and on the app page: I'm not about to re-write my writing sample just to downgrade my performance level (compared to the crazy word count I did just for Malkon, for instance. But don't you read that. Spoilers.) in a style I have long sense abandoned. Several other people have too. I think it was Koschei's posts that actually made me do it. I was like: *light bulb* You know quotation marks ARE so much easier! And I haven't heard a complaint out of anyone.

Not to mention what I wrote for Malkon and Georgi is the exact same thing I've done for every character I've had.

Hmm, I wonder why the comment isn't showing up. I tried to reply to one of Kilroy's other comments to make a new thread and it's not showing up either, so do you think you can just post his last comment as a "new comment" and see if we can get another thread going?

NO ONE WRITES IN FIRST PERSON. The first comment on that page is by the new mod and if you go to read her app it's written in third person too. FS is not played in the first person.

And part of why FS has always been so nice is that we're not tied to a single style. Some of us play in prose and others in action tags, and it's never been a problem before except on the stupid application? That's dumb. And no where on the app did it say it has to be action tags.

*hugs*

Honestly, and I'm going to tell Zara this in a PM, if I was a new player checking out the game and saw the way the mod is writing on the app post, I wouldn't join because it comes across as rude.

Thank you!

This is what I'm saying. It's frickin' condescending it what it is. In fact, I didn'tknow it was NOT Zara telling me to revise until the person that plays Nine told me. So I was really POed and sent a message to Zara with "I refuse to sit here and have you talk to me like you don't fucking know me." as the subject line! I apologized, obviously. LOL. But the fact is, having just copy and pasted the formatted text, and filling it out as I did exactly in the same manner as my last five characters, "revision request" just strikes me as insulting.

Nevermind the fact that everything in the info under "Writing Sample" is completely contradictory to itself. When I first joined I thought "That's strange, why would they want a first person writing sample if they use action styles?" - Then I just figured it was to see how well the person wrote and that they had a clear handle on the voice of their character. So much for that, I guess.

I knew it wasn't Zara replying to those because she just doesn't write that way. I really do understand your frustration and I'm nervously waiting to see what my app gets replied with and if it's "good enough" or whatever.

Maybe I'm just spoiled from time_and_crack though I've long ago left that comm (It just died, really,) - because if you were already a member, you didn't have to apply for another character, you could just snag them up. But you did have to wait a month or two between characters i think.

Honestly I don't MIND having to write up "sample posts" or the application because, really, it helps to have done so for back story, history, etc. But this getting hung up over FORMAT is what's driving me crazy.

And it feels like the mods are not on the same page with this at all...

BTW did you post for Alonso?

I like the fact we still have to apply for characters because I think it helps keep the number of characters per player down. I've definitely been dissuaded from picking up characters on a whim because of the app.

But yeah, to be denied for formatting is really lame. Like the one that says something about the words being too squished for the mods to read... that one was ridiculous.
