Thank you for the interesting topics~ Feel free to drop down any other topics in the previous (f-locked) post. Answering one of
screamingchair's questions, I'll talk about sports.
Hum. I never really like watching sports, except maybe figure skating. As a child, I always admire figure skaters that dance so beautifully at the ice rink. I don't really watch them now, only watch them at gym by chance, but it might be the only sport I really like to see.
When I'm in elementary and junior high school, I had this passion about basketball. More so on junior high school after I read Harlem Beat XD On high school, I entered the basketball club, but then found out that I don't feel fit in with the group. Most of them are popular and tall, and can really play. I was great at passes and lay-ups, but when it came to team play, I can't really say I was good at positioning myself to get a pass.
Incidentally, I played football on P.E., and a friend of mine was kind of impressed of my bullheadedness on guarding the (makeshift) goal posts. She was one of the girl's football team, and she asked me to try joining them. I was sceptic at first, since I don't really like playing football, but she's a good friend of mine, and some of the people I knew was also in it. So I said, "Oh, okay", and entered. I felt more comfortable there, I felt like I was really being considered to enter the team (well, I have to admit it's more because of lack of members more than anything), and that I could connect more as a team with the member. At that time, my football skills was more rubbish than basketball, but I quit the basketball team and entered the football.
The woman's football itself was developing nicely at that time. There were many kinds of football. I was at first played mini soccer (only once), then street soccer became more popular. Street soccer then is not like the international street soccer that I know from Wikipedia or football manga. There were five people (including goalkeeper) in the field that's roughly 1/3 size of a basketball court. The goal was more or less around 2x3m, there's a wall surrounding the field, and a red area surrounding the goal. There are no offside, the ball is count to be out when it bounce off outside the wall, you can change players anytime, and aside from the goalkeeper, any players who touched the read area was fouled.
It was a nice time, though I mostly warm the bench XDD My team mates were popular among the school as skillful players, and though I also have to work, it's easy to win matches. At one time, my coach was substituted and I got two coaches from Psychology (I was excited because I can ask them what it was like on Psychology). They were tough, but they bolster my confidence.
It's different when I continue playing in my undergraduate program. Most of my team mates had potential, but little experience. Me with my meager skills was appointed as a captain one time, and it was harder than before. Still, it developed me. My juniors were even greater than me, but the competition also rose. Some of my skilled juniors from high school entered different faculties, and while I was often times ecstatic to play with them even as rivals, they were great competitors. Most of the time, my team lost.
It was still fun, and kept playing until I graduated from my undergrad program. My juniors asked me to play once in a while, but I haven't really got the time. And if I did, there's this certain laziness that might be caused by unwillingness to run--I haven't got much stamina right now XD
That, and my newly-found love for low impact exercises. I tried to go to the gym to stay healthy when I was a NEET, and I found that I pretty much like walking in treadmill and do cross
training rather than running. And then, I could persuade my mum to buy Wii Fit. Wii Fit was a game for Wii with a balance board that aims for the player to do some exercises, especially exercises for balance. I fell in love with the cute exercises and also yoga (which also good for training my abdomen breathing). And well... It's just such a hassle to go to the gym or play futsal when I could do at home.
When I entered graduate program, I still keep exercising with Wii Fit, though I only seldom do it now because I'm too tired and too lazy to move after doing uni assignments. Gym time also considerably lessened because my gym is far away from both of my house and campus. That's when one of my professors offered her students to do some yoga every Wednesday. I had a mat that I usually use for my Wii Fit, and I was excited to join. Still doing it right now, and I have to say that it's good for my flexibility and my muscles :D
Goodness, I talked like a dam just kind of broke. Still here with me? Well, thanks for reading my rambling XDDD It's more or less about me and sports. Does anyone want to share their experience with any sports?
