I am re-purposing some text from one of my various "profiles" to help to introduce myself to my new lj friends!
I am a student. But what kind of student am I? Why, the possibly permanent kind, of course -- the kind who turns progressively bitter and sad over her seeming inability to JUST FINISH her dissertation already.
I resolve not to be bitter and sad today. There are those who would wear a t-shirt reading: "I'd rather be fishing." Well, I would NOT rather be fishing. It's boring until it's cruel, and then you smell bad. Here are ten other activities that some people reasonably enjoy that would send me screaming and running toward my dissertation.
I would NOT rather be
...performing professionally.
...traveling for business.
...running. Ever.
...allowing someone else to support me financially.
...learning a foreign language.
...responsible for any aspect of national security.
...involved in the news industry.
...paying attention to how I look.
...driving. Unless it's to very good food.
...having a drink.
